Greetings!

It is officially summer time in Gig Harbor! Now is the time to sit back, relax and enjoy a movie or concert in the park. You can do that each Tuesday and Friday right at Skansie Brothers Park. For information about these and other events 24/7 follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

The trolley is back on route this month and it extends up to Gig Harbor north. Take a ride and leave the driving to someone else.

Don't forget about Wings & Wheels this weekend. Happy 4th!

Free Friday Family Fun Movie Nights Start July 6

Photo Exhibit at Civic Center Goes Through July
The Flags Across America Photo Exhibition is dedicated to all those who have served. Talented artists contributed images of the American flag as it's never before seen. The exhibit, displayed at the Gig Harbor Civic Center through July 31st, is a small collection of photos taken from over 300 flag images seen in the "Flags Across America" photo book. The book, released this past spring, includes inspiring flag stories. For more information visit flagsacrossamerica.org.
Make Your Way to the Waterfront Farmers Market
Open since June 7 with newly extended hours (1 - 7 pm), the Waterfront Farmers Market is a Gig Harbor must-stop this summer! Held Thursdays at Skansie Brothers Park, the market has fresh, local fare, a variety of products, live music and chef demos. Get more info and the Fresh Sheet for the week on their Facebook page.
Chalk the Harbor on July 21
On Saturday, July 21st, children, families and adults are invited to decorate the sidewalks of the downtown waterfront. The Downtown Waterfront Alliance provides free chalk along with Certificates of Award in the following categories: Kids, Family, High School, College Students, Adult, Group and Best Maritime-Nautical art. Participants are encouraged to bring a chair or knee pads. A maritime theme is encouraged, though not required. Look for face painting and Harbor WildWatch touch tanks at Skansie Brothers Park. Chalk the Harbor is sponsored by Peninsula Light Company.

Experience a Celebration of Regional Wine & Food
Gig Harbor’s annual Wine & Food Festival. has a new name: The Gig Harbor Wine & Food Experience.The 3-day celebration of the region’s wine, brews, spirits and food, sponsored by Celebrity Cruises, will take place the weekend of July 27 – 29. The Experience begins in the evening on Friday, July 27 with elegant dining and dancing at the exclusive Pier to Table Dinner in the beautiful new courtyard at the Harbor History Museum. Wine & Food tasting continues Saturday, July 28 during Gig Harbor’s new, fun-filled Waterfront Block Party and on Sunday July 29, complete the weekend Experience with Champagne Brunches featured at several of Gig Harbor’s finest downtown waterfront restaurants. 

Waterfront Walking Tour Season Continues
Gig Harbor’s award winning guided Waterfront Walking Tours continues every Wednesday (except 4th of July) and Saturday through August 29th.

Presented by the Downtown Waterfront Alliance, Harbor WildWatch and the Harbor History Museum, the "From Skiffs to Spirits" and "Heritage Tour: Then and Now" tours bring history, nature, visitors and neighbors together. More information here.

A singer and musician, Greg now resides in Colorado and is part of the nationally- known band Jeff Scroggins and Colorado. The Official Visitor Guide is available at several local park kiosks and the Skansie Visitor & Interpretive Center.

Low-Tide Beach Walks with
Harbor WildWatch!
This summer, get to know the unique animals that inhabit the intertidal zone with Harbor WildWatch! These guided walking tours are led by Harbor WildWatch biologists and volunteer naturalists and take place during most low-tide days at our State, County and City parks. New Event This Summer!
Gig Harbor Film Festival presents "Hearts Beat Loud" on July 25
The Gig Harbor Film Festival proudly presents the feel-good father-daughter drama, "Hearts Beat Loud" for the July Monthly Movie Night on Wednesday, July 25 at 6:30 pm at the Galaxy Theatre, Uptown Gig Harbor.  

Tickets are $5 at the door, free for GHFF Members. For more information visit gigharborfilm.org
PenMet Dragons Paddle the Harbor
Dragon boat: a human-powered watercraft that is the basis of the team paddling sport of dragon boat racing. Gig Harbor is home to a diverse group paddles for recreation, fitness, and/or competition. Mostly, they are are a team that has a blast in beautiful Gig Harbor

Harbor Hill Drive Extension
Paving is scheduled for 6/29 and 7/2. Work is weather dependent. Please be aware of possible traffic delays at the Harbor Hill and Sentinel Drive Roundabout and at the Burnham Drive and Harbor Hill Drive Roundabout during this work. Major roadway construction is expected to be completed by mid-July with final landscaping being installed in October.

Street Light Wire Theft
Streetlight copper wire thefts are a problem in Gig Harbor, the surrounding area, and the nation. Not only is this crime costing our community hundreds of thousands of unbudgeted dollars, but the crime itself can be dangerous to criminals and residents. With over 1000 streetlights and additional junction box targets throughout our community, Gig Harbor needs watchful residents to help. Learn what to watch for here.
