The  Gig Harbor Downtown Waterfront Alliance  is pleased to announce the first Waterfront Restaurant Week, Sunday, March 25 - Thursday March 29! Experience the tastes of the Downtown Waterfront. Participating restaurants will offer special meals at fixed price points of $20 or $30. It's a great way to try that new place you've been curious about, support your longtime favorite spot, and experience new and creative menu items at each location.

Meaningful Movies in Gig Harbor presents "Girl Rising"
March 9 
"Girl Rising" is a ground-breaking film which tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries written by 9 celebrated writers and narrated by 9 renowned actresses.  "Girl Rising" showcases the strength of the human spirit and the power of education to change the world.  Following the movie, join the discussion with guest speaker, Judy Arbogast with RESULTS.  RESULTS is a movement of passionate, committed everyday people using their voices to influence political decisions to bring an end to poverty. March 9, 6:30pm at Agnus Dei Church.
Computer & Recycling Event March 10th
SBK Recycle will be onsite at Coldwell Banker Bain of Gig Harbor 2801 Hollycroft St, Ste A, Gig Harbor, WA 98335 from 10 am - 1 pm collecting your old unwanted Computer & Electronic items for free. No CRT TV's or Projection style TV's will be accepted at this event. We will be accepting all computer related items and electronics. Marine Weather Workshop at the BoatShop
Washington Sea Grant and the Gig Harbor BoatShop are co-sponsoring a marine weather workshop, Thursday, March 22, 9am-4pm. Topics include the relationship of atmospheric pressure and wind, the key features of low pressure systems, and how pressure gradients affect wind and Washington waters.

$60 class fee. Registration is required

Varnishing 101:
Join us  to learn about the tools, materials, and techniques used, along with some hands-on experience, to tackle all your spring varnishing projects. All materials are provided, please wear work clothes.  Wednesday, March 28, 6-9pm. 

$45 members. $55 non-members. Registration is required.

Narrows Music Society Showcase Fundraiser March 18 
On March 18, Narrows Music Society will feature a number of smaller ensembles in its annual fundraiser. MarKee Coffee Shop is sponsoring and hosting this year's Showcase from
4-7pm.  Come enjoy local musicians performing in a more intimate setting and bid on dozens of items in a silent auction.
Harbor History Museum Events
Gangspil: Danish Traditional Music
The lively trio of Sonnich Lydom (accordion, harmonica), Kristian Bugge (fiddle) and ViĆ°ar Skrede (guitar) will guarantee you an entertaining journey through the traditions of Danish folk music. They perform old dance tunes and songs from every corner of their Scandinavian home country. Thursday, March 1, 7-9pm.  $25 admission/$20 for Members.

Gig Harbor Literary Society
Harbor History Museum and the Gig Harbor branch of the Pierce County Library invite you to join the Gig Harbor Literary Society, dedicated to exploring the literary world of historical fiction, nonfiction, and other works of interest. The March meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 6 at 6pm at the Harbor History Museum. The book for the March meeting is "Snow Falling on Cedars" by David Guterson.

St. Anthony Hospital Bake Sale March 14
Be good to your sweet tooth!   Bring family and friends to the bi-annual hospital Bake Sale and help fund Anthony's Closet and other programs benefitting patients of St. Anthony Hospital. Ancich Waterfront Park Upland Development - On October 23, 2017 City Council approved the Public Works construction contracts for the Ancich Waterfront Park and Netshed Restoration Project. Upland work began on December 4th. More information
Residential Moratorium
At their February 12th, 2018 meeting, the City Council passed Ordinance 1383  declaring an immediate six-month moratorium on the acceptance of certain residential development applications. More information

Gig Harbor Sports Complex Master Plan Public Meeting Dates
Public meeting dates have been established for the Gig Harbor Sports Complex Master Plan. We invite you to participate in this important process. Your voice matters! Public Meeting: March 6, 2018 - 5:30pm - Community Rooms A/B  This meeting will provide attendees with information regarding the Master Plan project, schedule and deliverables. Previous visioning efforts will be summarized and program and design criteria will be discussed. After a short presentation, attendees will be given an opportunity to provide comment, both verbal and written. Feedback from this meeting will be used to develop Alternative Plans for the Sports Complex. The Alternatives will be posted to the project webpage on or before March 30, 2018. More information

City Construction Updates

Harbor Hill Drive Extension Project
The City's Harbor Hill Drive Extension Project, extending Harbor Hill Dr to Burnham Drive, has been under construction since July 2017. In order to complete this project, there will be a one-month long road closure of Sentinel Drive where it connects to Harbor Hill Drive. This road closure will allow for the construction of a new Roundabout at the Harbor Hill Drive and Sentinel Drive intersection. The road closure will begin on March 19, 2018 and will be in effect through April 17, 2018. No local access will be provided through the closure area during this time period. During the road closure, access to Sentinel Drive is provided from Athena Avenue off Borgen Boulevard and from Apollo Way off Peacock Hill Road. Road closure signing, including closure information, will be posted two weeks prior to the road closure starting. If you have any Questions or Comments, please contact the City of Gig Harbor Public Works at 253-851-8136, or Construction Supervisor Kyle Neiman at 253-377-1378.
