HOW WILL YOU GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR MEMBERSHIP THIS SUMMER?
We are so happy to have you as a member of our Camp Fire family. Your continued support and involvement in our programs is really something special to us. It adds strength to our community and provides us with the opportunity to help young people find their spark and discover who they are.

Below is a list of activities your kids can participate in this summer.  It is a very exciting time for us at Camp Fire. There are emblems to be earned, skills to be learned, and new friends to be made.

We hope to see you there!
LEARN MORE ABOUT WOHELO: ATTEND A CITY COUNCIL MEETING AND EARN AN EMBLEM
Emma giving her WoHeLo presentation at the Deschutes Public Library
Any young person thinking of earning their WoHeLo will want to attend this presentation. Plus, it's a great excuse to sit in on a City Council meeting and see how our local government operates.  Who knows--you may even get to meet the mayor!

Presentations will be televised on COTV channel 11.

Note: Emblems and beads can be earned by attending this meeting!  High school students can use their attendance as one of the steps to their Reflections.

VOLUNTEER AT RELAY FOR LIFE AND EARN AN EMBLEM
Camp Fire Emblems and Beads
STAR emblems are given out after youth complete a day of
Service Towards Another's Reward.  For young people looking to earn a WoHeLo, this is a great way to add another emblem to your vest, while feeling satisfied that you have helped to make a positive difference in your community.

We have one opportunity for youth to earn a STAR emblem this month:

Volunteer for the Bend Relay for Life on Saturday, July 19th
At High Desert Middle School

ATTEND SUMMER CAMPS
Summer seems to be flying by, and what an amazing time we've had!  As many of you know, our June Tumalo Day Camp was a blast, and the SummerKids programs are keeping our little ones active and engaged week by week.

We're on a mission to prevent Summer Slide--and boy, does it seem to be working!

Luckily, there is still time for your kids to get in on the fun!  Here is a quick list of the camps and programs that we still have available:

Every month, we partner up with a different local organization to host Camp Fire Connects.  Last month we had our event at Equine Outreach and boy, was it fun!

Join us for Camp Fire Connects on July 24th at Sawyer Park for a fun and educational look at the Water Wonders of the Deschutes River.

ATTEND A CAREER CAMP AND EARN AN EMBLEM

The Deschutes National Forest is having a Career Camp for 10th-12th grade females, August 5th-6th.  Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Discover carers in wildlife biology, botany, geology, recreation, & more
  • Learn about opportunities with the Forest Service and other conservation organizations
  • Develop leadership skills
  • Make new friends, share meals around the campfire, & camp out!

This will be a great chance for young women to earn an emblem for camping out while exploring the bright futures that lay before them.
