With this year's IMTS and Hannover Messe USA 2018 wrapping up, GACC Midwest is looking back to a successful week. Our new transatlantic apprenticeship dialogue has been established to enhance the professional exchange on workforce development in the US and Germany. Recap: GACC Skills Conference at IMTS
At the annual GACC Skills Conference, Peter Riehle of WITTENSTEIN and Darragh Staunton of BBS Automation agreed: Apprenticeships are key to the future success of their companies, and whether they cost $30,000 or even $50,000 per year is beside the point. Attendees learned about best practices in hiring initiatives from Washington and about German-style apprentice-ship programs in the US. Learn more about our nationwide skills efforts by signing up for our monthly Skills Update.
Recap: ICATT Apprenticeship Program Graduation Ceremony
After Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner stopped by the ICATT Apprenticeship Program & Illinois Manufacturers' Association (IMA) booth, the second highlight at IMTS was the graduation of ICATT's inaugural cohort. After three years of intensive training and college classes, these five young leaders are taking the next step in their careers. Special thanks to our supporters who made it possible to start and grow the program to 45 companies and 70 apprentices: IMA, Joyce Foundation, Harper College, US Dept. of Labor, and of course our founding companies. More than 400 manufacturers and guests from around the world came together to network and discuss new partnership opportunities at our 6th German Night Reception at IMTS/Hannover Messe USA. Transatlantic Cluster Initiative: Exploring Cooperation in E-Mobility
The demand for E-Mobility solutions is opening a new landscape for the creation and adoption of ever more efficient modes of transport and infrastructure both in the US and Germany. After our German delegation shared insights surrounding E-Mobility innovation and policy with US industry leaders in Colorado and Michigan in August, we are taking a US delegation to Germany to continue the dialogue in October.
