Everything and everyone is going digital. And there are so many new technology solutions that are out there. How do you pick the right ones for your Chamber and your members? As you evaluate new technology solutions, continue to ask yourself the following questions:
  • Will this solve problems, or just create new ones?
  • Will this automate a process that seems overly manual, giving our staff more time to focus on members?
  • How can this improve my existing workflow?
If the tool you're evaluating, or any of your existing resources, do not have good answers for the above questions, it's likely time to consider alternatives. Contact Mike Pennington at mike@noviams.com for more information.

Barrow County Chamber
The Chamber announces the hiring of Ms. Vicki Keibler as Director of Sales. Ms. Keibler brings over 15 years of experience in chamber membership sales, serving in a similar position with the North Myrtle Beach Chamber in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Ms. Keibler received awards from ACCE for her sales accomplishments, including ACCE National Sales Award for membership sales in the US for 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2010, and she was inducted into the ACCE Million Dollar Circle of Champions.

We brought some new energy and excitement to our golf tournament last year, by creating a "PARTY HOLE", calling it "PARTEE AT THE PAR 3".  We brought in a deejay to play music at the hole, and the deejay announced each contestant as they teed off on the hole.  We had beer available for both contestants and for spectators, as we encouraged those who were not playing to come watch and enjoy the day.  Rather than it being obtrusive, the music was great, could be heard throughout the course, and our players and volunteers enjoyed it.  The hole was the talk of the tournament, and everyone looked forward to coming through to play the hole.  Many players were nervous at the thought of spectators watching them, but all enjoyed it.  Oh, and the sponsorship was $2,500.  The cost of the deejay was $600, and the sponsor was allowed an additional team in the tournament.  This year, we are moving our Margarita Bar to the party hole, and look to make it even bigger.

A year-round awareness campaign that moves beyond just retail and making cash registers ring has been launched by the Carroll County Chamber. "#ThinkCarrollFirst" is a campaign to remind Carroll County consumers that just about everything they desire - from cars to cardiac care to cultural events - can be found locally.  The concept of #ThinkCarrollFirst is for businesses to replace the word "Think" with words that describe their work - dine, learn, explore, play, chose, etc. Utilizing the campaign logo, users are encouraged to make the campaign fun, engaging and interesting.
