Starting the New Year: High School Outreach
The ICATT Apprenticeship Program team will begin the new year with high school outreach in January and February. Especially high school career fairs and class visits, where we talk directly with students about their career opportunities through apprenticeship programs, are an essential way to reach students interested in a career in manufacturing.

Companies that want to promote their apprenticeships at local high schools, and high schools that would like to include the ICATT Apprenticeship Program at an upcoming event or job fair should contact Sinan Ordu at [email protected] or +1 (312) 585-8338.

New ICATT and GA CATT Network Companies
We had a number of new companies join the ICATT and GA CATT Apprenticeship Program at the end of 2017, and would like to feature Clyde's Donuts and Helm Tool Company, Inc. in this month's newsletter.

Clyde's Donuts , located in Addison, IL, is a family owned and operated business which expanded to the in-store bakery market and crafts over 4 million donuts each week. The company focuses on freshness and service, and offers a full selection of donuts.
Helm Tool Company, Inc. , with its roots in German machine building and engineering, develops innovative tools that are custom designed to offer their customers the best and most economical solutions. The company is located in Elk Grove Village, IL, and offers full-service for tooling needs, injection molds, and die cast dies.

We are proud to see the program grow with each new company that shares our vision of getting young Americans into great apprenticeship programs in manufacturing and helping them do the first steps towards a valuable career pathway.
GABO 2018 Findings: German Companies Continue to Grow, Hire and Invest; Skilled Workforce Remains a Challenge
The  German American Business Outlook   (GABO)  is an annual survey measuring the satisfaction of German companies with the United States as an investment location.

With a record of 6 million jobs open in the US, 87% of German companies experience difficulties in attracting qualified US talent to fill their vacancies - a dramatic 21% increase since 2016. And with 100% of German companies surveyed expect growth in 2018, 92% rate attracting a skilled workforce as an important factor they would like to see addressed by the US administration.

61% of German companies in the US either already participate in an apprenticeship program or are interested in joining a consortium-style apprenticeship program to train their staff. To view the whole report, please click here .
Recap: Tour & Information Session at Krones, Inc. in Franklin, WI
Rounding out our ICATT Network open houses for 2017, Krones Inc., in Franklin, WI hosted an information session and facility tour on December 13, 2017. More than 40 students, parents and educators braved the weather to learn more about career opportunities in advanced manufacturing in Wisconsin.
Current and former apprentices also answered questions highlighting the benefits of apprenticeships. Great things are happening in manufacturing in Southeast Wisconsin, and students are excited to find their niche. Read more on our new ICATT Apprenticeship Program LinkedIn Page .
Recap: Illinois Manufacturers' Association Annual Luncheon, Chicago
On Dec. 8, 2017, ICATT Network Companies and ICATT Apprentices participated in a panel discussion at the Illinois Manufacturers' Association (IMA) Annual Luncheon in Chicago.

Ursula Klicker from Herrmann Ultrasonics, Hans Krauss from Richard Wolf Medical Instruments, and Peter Riehle from WITTENSTEIN spoke about their reasons to join the ICATT Apprenticeship Program, how they implement the program, and the benefits this decision has had for them so far.

The ICATT Apprentices told the attendees what inspired them to choose an apprenticeship to start their career path. An exciting and challenging career, having in-demand skills, and a debt-free college education were just a few reasons Michael Stanciu, Kevork Badark, Andrew Splett and Alexis Ojeda gave for becoming ICATT Apprentices.
Introducing a New Look ...
