U.S. House Majority Whip Congressman
Steve Scalise visits Houma
We were delighted to welcome Majority Whip Congressman Steve Scalise yesterday in Houma at the South Central Industrial Association (SCIA) Luncheon (left with SCIA President Cory Kief).

Congressman Scalise is a long-time champion of the oil and gas industry and our region. We could not be happier to have him back representing Louisiana and the industry that creates so many jobs for the Gulf States and all of America.

GEST Director Lori LeBlanc (right) greeted Congressman Steve Scalise and discussed his recovery, current topics regarding our area and wished him well returning to work.

Congressman Scalise is still in our thoughts and prayers as he continues his recovery.

SCIA Work it! Louisiana Females Fueling Our Workforce
Last week Director Lori LeBlanc spoke to a group of high school girls in this region at the SCIA Work it! Louisiana Females Fueling Our Workforce event , discussing her business role in the oil and gas industry.

Lori was invited to speak by the event's host Fletcher Technical Community College, held at the BP Houma Operations Learning Center in Schriever where over 1,000 girls participated.

The purpose of Females Fueling Our Workforce is to "empower young ladies to overcome barriers in their life, inform them about the great career opportunities there are in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, & Mathematics), and to change the perception that STEM related careers are only for males."

Wood Group working on world’s first offshore LNG platform via Offshore Energy Today
Wood Group has secured a $12 million front-end engineering design (FEED) contract with Honghua for its liquefied natural gas (LNG) platform development in the West Delta area of the Gulf of Mexico.

The main objective of the FEED is to finalize the design of the world’s first offshore platform-based natural gas liquefaction and storage facility. Wood recently completed the pre-FEED for this project.

Wood’s scope of work includes the onshore gas pre-treatment plant configuration and layouts, general utilities, feed gas processing and compression, and transportation and delivery via repurposed pipelines from the existing onshore Toca and Venice, Louisiana, facilities to the LNG facility 10 miles offshore.
