WELCOMES TORTUG AIR TO SISTER CITY CAP HAITIEN, HAITI
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA JUNE 5, 2014

County Commissioner Dale Holness greeted passengers and local dignitaries traveling to Cap-Hatien, Haiti, Thursday on Tortug'Air's inaugural flight from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

"The convenience of flying into Cap-Hatien will benefit many of the residents of South Florida, particularly those from northern Haiti," said Holness in a statement, adding that no major airline currently flies directly there from the tri-county area.

Since 2003, Fort Lauderdale has had a "Sister City" relationship with Cap-Haitien, Holness noted. For more information please go to www.gflsci.org/Cap-Haitien_Haiti.html

Tony Marcelli, Past President of Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities, welcomed the Tortug' Air flight to Cap Haitien, greeting passengers and dignitaries as the disembarked.   The flight received a water cannon salute as it taxied towards the Cap Haitien Airport Terminal.
