GJAC Award Nominations - 2013

The Golf Journalists Association of Canada is calling on all members to help name the 2013 GJAC Players of the Year. 

Per usual, we will have a male and female professional and a male and female amateur winner. We have included some nominees, but write-in votes are welcome. 

All members may vote via email to Garry McKay. You may only vote for one person in each category although you are note obliged to vote for someone in each category. 

You have until midnight on December 31st to cast your vote. A reminder notice will be sent after the Christmas holiday. 

The Nominees for 2013 --  

Male Professional: 

1) Graham DeLaet
  • Leading Canadian on the PGA TOUR with seven top 10s and $2.8MM in earnings. Made Presidents Cup. 32nd in World Ranking.
2) David Hearn
  • Two top 10s, including a playoff loss at the John Deere Classic. Made FedEx Cup playoffs. Earned $1.7MM.
3) Mackenzie Hughes
  • Won inaugural PGA TOUR Canada Order of Merit title. Won Cape Breton Classic on PGA Tour Canada, his first as a professional. Earned Web.com Tour card for 2014. 
Female Professional:

1) Rebecca Lee-Bentham
  • Top Canadian on LPGA Tour for 2013. Best finish was T11 at Evian Championship. Finished 80th on the money list earning $118K.
2) Alena Sharp
  • Earned LPGA Tour card for 2014. Finished 9th on the
    Symetra Tour money list earning $34K in just eight events. Best LPGA Tour finish was T13 at Pure Silk-Bahamas LPGA Classic.
3) Lorie Kane
  • Captured 2013 money title on the LPGA's Legends Tour. Recorded one victory and six top-five finishes to earn $103K. 
Male Amateur:

1) Taylor Pendrith 
  • Won Porter Cup ending 28-year drought for a Canadian winner. Highest-ranked Canadian male amateur at No.26 in the world. Returning member of Team Canada's national team. 
2) Corey Conners
  • Returning to Team Canada for a third year. Ranked 42nd in the world amateur ranking. Second place at the U.S. Amateur, North & South Amateur and Canadian Men's Amateur Championship. Third place at the Monroe Invitational. 
3) Garrett Rank
  • Medalist at U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship. Second at Canadian Men's Mid-Amateur Championship. Second at Ontario Amateur Championship. 
Female Amateur:

1) Augusta James
  • Fourth-consecutive year as a member of Team Canada's National Squad. Member of 2013 Copas de las Americas Championship team, finished tied for fifth individually. Tied for third at the Mason Rudolph Championship. 
2) Brooke Henderson
  • Ninth-ranked female amateur in the world. Winner of Canadian Women's Amateur Championship and CN Future Links Pacific Championship. Made the cut at the U.S. Women's Open. 
3) Anne-Catherine Tanguay 
  • Runner-up at Canadian Women's Amateur. Member of 2013 Big-12 All Conference Team and Big-12 All Conference Academic Team at the University of Oklahoma. 11 top-10 finishes in her collegiate career.
