PRISM Awards Gala planning is underway
|
Wow! It’s hard to believe that summer is here, although it’s a bit early but that’s KC weather for you. For us at GKC-PRSA, that means work for the annual PRISM Awards Gala is underway. You’ve probably seen the call for entries to submit your best PR work but in case you haven’t, you can submit your work
here
but be sure to complete it soon. The deadline is fast approaching! Speaking of the PRISM event, maybe you don’t have work to submit but are still looking for a way your organization can support GKC-PRSA. The call for sponsorships is also open and your support helps the chapter provide programming all year long. Please contact
Norita Taylor, APR, president
, to discuss sponsorship opportunities.
Other things our team have been working on include upcoming professional development opportunities. For our solo PR friends, join us for an
upcoming luncheon
and have you ever wondered what the best practices of sharing content are? Well if you answered yes, we’ve got you covered. Check out our
June luncheon, Lessons in Shareable Content
. We can’t wait to see you at an upcoming event.
One final thought, as a PR professional, giving back to the profession and the industry is something I find to be very important. As such, serving on the board of our local chapter was an easy choice; however, we need more folks to step forward and give back to the profession and help guide the chapter. It’s important we have a solid board and your skill sets can be used in any number of roles we have open. Feel free to
contact me
to answer your questions about board service.

As marketers, we’re steeped in the best practices of developing and distributing content. But if we’re all following the same rules, how can your message stand out? It’s a not easy, so we developed a 10-point checklist to grade our ideas against before we set out to create a new content series. The funny thing is, we’re starting to use it for paid ad campaigns as well.
It’s not an easy set of questions to pass. In fact, most of our original ideas flunk it. BUT, from there we have a better idea of how to push them to a better spot.
Speaker:
Justin Watkins with Native Digital
Founder and Creative Strategist Justin Watkins has a background in interaction design, web development, creative direction and content creation. Over the past 15 years, he has worked on clients such as National Geographic, MGM Resorts, Sixt Rental Car, Lufthansa Airlines, Fairfield Inn & Suites, Visit KC, H&R Block, and Anheuser-Busch. Prior to starting Native Digital, Justin served as Vice President of Creative for MMGY Global.
A creative at heart, Justin explores concepts from every angle, iterating on an idea until it’s fully refined. As he puts it, “The process is easily more rewarding than the final product for me.”
