Here is a message from Vickie Kelsall, 2018 GMAR Chariwoman

HAPPY MAY!

So much has happened since last month's newsletter.

On April 11th, we honored the wonderful and courageous men and women who fought for fair housing in Milwaukee 50 years ago. The Greater Milwaukee Association of REALTORS  strives to promote education to our members and to the public about fair housing. We will not waiver.

Personally, I was raised that people are people, and I will not waiver.

My heartfelt thanks to the NAACP Youth Council and the Commandos who had the courage to stand up for the rights they always deserved and went through hell to get them. We still have work to do to keep moving forward. But with understanding, patience and cooperating efforts, the march moves forward!

On May 3rd we held the WomenStrong! conference.  Click here to see photos from the event.  It was a full house with over 225 in attendance for a morning packed with great speakers. Women have different challenges in the "business world" and we discussed how to address those challenges and how to balance life.

Speakers shared common traits that have made them successful.  Here are just a few:

1)     Treat other agents as you want them to treat you. We need to work together to bring our clients together.
2)     Put your clients first. Not your commission.
3)     Take care of yourself mentally and physically. Know when to turn off the switch and respect the fact that we all need to do that.
4)     Surround yourself with POSITIVE people!
5)     All successful people have mentors. A mentor is someone who you connect with and want to emulate your business or life practices after.
6)     When you are ready for a coach-get one. Coaches are more for systems and accountability.
7)     Remember we are all human and make mistakes. If you make one, admit it, fix it and move on.
8)     And last but certainly not least. LAUGH. Laughter is the best medicine!

Thank you, to all my fellow panelists, speakers and sponsors.

And finally, reconstruction of the upper level of the GMAR building is in full swing. Yes, that is history in the making itself.

Have a fantastic May!
