Fellow members,

I'm looking forward to the 6th Annual Wisconsin Real Estate Summit  on Monday, March 12th at the Italian Community Center, hosted by Marquette University Center for Real Estate and the GMAR.

The topics at this year's summit will include the FOXCONN development and potential reforms to Fannie and Freddie. We're delighted to have special guest Congressman Sean Duffy, Chairman of the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing and Insurance, on hand to discuss federal housing policy and government-sponsored enterprise (GSE) reform.

The potential impact of FOXCONN on the single-family real estate market in southeastern Wisconsin will start with the MMAC's Tim Sheehy, talking about why FOXCONN chose Wisconsin.  Then, Matt Maroney, State of Wisconsin Liaison for the FOXCONN Project will discuss what the Walker Administration sees happening in the region as a result of the development.  To register for the event, please click here.

Also, please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 11th which will be the day we mark the 50th anniversary of passage of the Fair Housing Act.  The GMAR is planning a press conference that morning to showcase REALTORS'® role in advancing fair housing and our dedication to efforts that address community fair housing issues.

Vickie Kelsall
Your 2018 Chairwoman

The latest Voice for Real Estate shares remarks about the Commitment to Excellence program from the recent NAR Leadership Live event in New York City. The program is a voluntary self-assessment for your members that will help them see how they measure up in about a dozen key areas. The program is expected to launch later this year. The video also looks at home sales, which are starting out the year sluggishly, IRS confirmation about the interest deductibility of home equity lines of credit, and House passage of a bill to curb abusive accessibility lawsuits.

MONTHLY MORTGAGE CONCEPTS FOR REAL ESTATE AGENTS CLASSES
Thursday, March 22 10am at the GMAR office

New for 2018! Cherry Creek is proud to partner with the GMAR to offer Monthly mortgage concepts training to our Realtor partners! T he March 22nd class is going to be the offer to purchase from a lender/underwriter prospective.  It gets very frustrating for all parties when buyers and sellers are asked to sign amendments because the lender is requesting a change to the offer. This happens because the offer was written in such a way that that can create issues for Fannie Mae, HUD, or WHEDA depending on the loan program. Most of these can be avoided by wording things in a certain way so it does not create issues for investors and thus amendments do not become necessary.  The tips you will learn will help make your transactions much smoother for your buyers and sellers.

Please RSVP to John Gonzales by emailing him at [email protected].
You may also call him by phone at (414) 935-4165.

We will start the series again in April if you missed any of the previous seminars! We are looking forward to a fantastic 2018 Real Estate Market and hope to help you make it as easy as possible to help get you from offer to closing!
