|Annual Meeting Results
At its annual planning meeting the board reviewed its accomplishments and set goals for 2011. Organizing and running the Farmer's Market was the main activity for the year and the market is now making a small profit for the GMVA. It will be the main activity again this year along with support of other neighborhood activities such as the Yard of the Month, Community Days, the Holiday Lighting Contest and various functions sponsored by the Township.
The Board decided not to give any individual scholarships but instead will focus its charitable activities on supporting the four local schools located in Grogan's Mill Village with grants totaling $2,000 in 2011 and the Interfaith programs with a donation of $1,000.
|March GMVA Meeting
At the March GMVA meeting Chris Nunes, Director of Parks and Recreation, along with the partners from LJA consulting firm, solicited input from the board and residents regarding the renovation of Sawmill Park. Residents from the Red Cedar Circle neighborhood attended and gave input as to how it would affect their community. The planning process will take approximately 6 months with the renovation of the Park scheduled for completion by Spring, 2012. Input from local residents will be solicited by several methods including surveys. If you have any thoughts please contact us.
GMVA Board member George Van Horn was elected as Vice President Government Relations.
2010 School Donations Delivered~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Deborah Sargeant, President of Grogan's Mill Village Association, reported at a recent Board meeting that she had received thank you notes from the Principals of the four schools in Grogan's Mill for the GMVA's donation.
Each year, for the past several years, the GMVA has contributed funds to Hailey Elementary, Lamar Elementary, Wilkerson Intermediate and Knox Junior High, the four schools located in Grogan's Mill. One Principal mentioned that the funds will be used for the Needy children's fund established at his school. He stated that the assistance provided these children can increase their success in school. Another Principal stated the school will use the funds for technology needs.
