Filing for Elections Begins December 30, 2010

From The Woodlands Township:

THE WOODLANDS, TEXAS (December 15, 2010) - Are you interested in serving the community? More than 100 positions will be up for election in February to serve on the Residential Design Review Committees and the Village Associations.

Are you interested in running for office?
Filing for all of these positions begins Thursday, December 30, 2010, and ends Thursday, January 20, 2011, at 5 p.m., for the February 2011 election. No forms will be accepted after the 5 p.m. deadline. During the filing period, filing forms may be obtained at The Woodlands Township Service Center at 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, from village association presidents, or online at www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov. Filing is open to residents and property owners in The Woodlands, ages 18 and over. Positions require residency and/or property ownership in specific villages and interested individuals should refer to the appropriate Bylaws and Covenants for eligibility requirements.


Positions up for election in February 2011:

Residential Design Review Committee

Throughout the transition in governance, The Woodlands Community Association Covenants and The Woodlands Association Covenants (both herein referred to as the Covenants) continue to be encumbered on the property. As prescribed by the Covenants, five-member, resident-elected committees serve to facilitate property improvements of their peers.

All Villages
� Up to five Residential Design Review Committee members to be elected for each village, all serving one-year terms. This includes two committees for villages such as Indian Springs and Grogan's Mill, which are divided into two geographic areas based on Covenant imposition.

Seven At-Large Area Representatives (two-year terms)

Be a Part of the Elections in February 
If you are interested in becoming more involved in your community, the village Board is a great way to start.  Please contact any Board member if you are interested in running for a position in February.

RDRC and Village Association Election Day will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011, with voting hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Convenience voting will occur for one week leading up to Election Day (Monday, February 14 - Friday, February 18), with voting hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

All voting will take place at the Township Service Center, 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive. The first day of filing for the February election will be Thursday, December 30. Filing packets will be emailed to village presidents, posted on the Township website and available at the front desk of the Service Center prior to the start of filing at the end of December.
Farmer's Market concludes Fall Season plus Preview Market coming in February
A big thanks to all of our loyal customers and to those who just recently discovered the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market this year.  We appreciate your continued support of The Woodlands' only Farmer's Market.  All of our vendors, plus many new businesses, will be back in the Spring when we reopen on Saturday, April 2nd.
PLUS, look for our first-time-ever joint venture with the annual Spring Home & Garden Show taking place on Saturday, February 19th and Sunday, February 20th at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott.  As a special bonus for the Home & Garden Show goers plus the general public, the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market will have a preview weekend of our Spring season set-up outside of the convention center during the show hours.  Home & Garden Show admission tickets will not be necessary to shop at the Farmer's Market, but discounted passes to the Show will be available from our vendors.  Check out our future news letters for more details.
