|TWT Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 26th
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will hold a regular monthly meeting followed by a Town Hall Meeting and Volunteer Recognition meeting on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel. The regular board meeting will begin at 5PM. At the regular meeting there will be a resolution presented on improving the bridge over Grogan's Mill Road at Sawmill Road. The resolution will be presented by the First Baptist Church, which will then be seconded by the GMVA. We hope you will be able to attend and provide your support. You can sign up to speak about the proposal if you like. The Volunteer recognition will begin at 7 PM and the Board will answer questions from the floor after the recognition awards. |Please Vote! - Be a Part of the Elections in February
RDRC and Village Association Election Day will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2011, with voting hours from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Convenience voting will occur for one week leading up to Election Day (Monday, February 14 - Friday, February 18), with voting hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All voting will take place at the Township Service Center, 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive. The first day of filing for the February election will be Thursday, December 30. Filing packets will be emailed to village presidents, posted on the Township website and available at the front desk of the Service Center prior to the start of filing at the end of December.
Farmer's Market Preview coming in February~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The GMVA Farmer's Market has been such a hit we've been invited to preview our Spring Market at the upcoming Home & Garden Show being held at the Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center on February 19th and 20th. The vendors will be set in the circle drive in front of the Convention Center. Tickets to the Home & Garden Show are not required to shop the Farmer's Market, although our vendors will have discount coupons available for their customers. The Spring Farmer's Market will begin again at our traditional location in the Grogan's Mill Village Center on Saturday, April 2.
|Sawmill Park Upgrade
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~The GMVA and others have given recommendations to Parks and Rec about Sawmill. They have asked designers to come back with suggestions by the end of this month. We will be participating in the review of these suggestions with the desire to get a decision made in the first quarter and with construction to begin soon.

Holiday Lighting Contest ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Eighty-two homes in Grogan's Mill were recognized for the way they were decorated for the holidays. The names of the home-owners are on our website. Thank you to all for making Grogan's Mill a great place to live!
|Celebrate Arbor Day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Arbor Day is this weekend at Rob Fleming Park from 10 AM until 2 PM. Eight different saplings will be available. The supplies of saplings are plentiful and are free to residents. Stop by and enjoy all the festivities planned including activities for the children.

January 26th at The Woodlands Township Service Center located at 2201 Lake Woodlands Drive, from noon to 1 p.m.
The Topic for January will be Crime Scene Investigation. Sergeant Rick Anderson and Crime Scene Investigator Leslie McCauley from the Crime Lab/Crime Scene Investigation Unit, from the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office will be the presenters.
|Learn about Veggie Village
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Veggie Village is a community garden that will supply the Interfaith Food Pantry with fresh food for distribution to those in need. It will be located at the Alden Bridge Sports Park. If you or your organization would be interested in helping this effort you can find our more by attending a scheduled meeting on January 26 at 730 PM or January 31 at 1 PM, the meetings will be at Interfaith. This presentation will review social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace. They will also review issues such as cyber bullying, sexting and online "stalking".
