Village Association Approves Budget and Elects Officers
Last Monday the GMVA approved a $26,600 budget   for the 2015/2016 fiscal year, beginning April 1st .  Major contributions to the community were designated for the four schools in GM  Lamar, Hailey, Knox and Wilkerson ,   which will each receive up to $1,500.  Four thousand dollars was allocated for scholarships for local students   enrolled  in any college program.  Applications will be available online   and through the counselors' offices of local schools  in the near future.   The Board recognized the increasing needs of our expanding community by raising this year's contribution to $3,000 for the  Interfaith   programs.  Other funds will go to support community events, the Farmers Market and other operating expenses.

All of the incumbent officers were re-elected, Dana Denton ,   President ;   Marie Brannen, Vice   P resident ;   Bob Leilich, Treasurer ;   Jody Ronzio, Secretary ;   and Jane Georges ,   VP  Government Relations.
Thank You for Saving Caps and Corks
The GMVA  received a $737 check from The Woodlands Green for the caps and corks we collected at the Farmers' Market.  We thank all of you who helped us.

Money earned will be used to support the   GMVA's   philanthrop ic   projects   listed above.

We are no longer collecting caps and corks, as this program has ended.  You can now recycle those caps through the curbside recycling program in The Woodlands.

Mike Bass to Run for Precinct 3 Commissioner
Mike Bass, a Township Director and member of the Road Utility District and the Waterway Arts Council, made a short presentation at the GMVA monthly meeting and announced that he would be running next year for the Precinct 3 Commissioner's job. We will be asking him and other candidates back to talk about their vision and plans.
Road Bond Impact on Grogan's Mill Village
There has been a lot of discussion about the proposed road bonds that will be voted on in May.  The major impact in Grogan's Mill would be the development of an elevated structure that would extend Interstate 45 connectors over Woodloch Forest Drive and Six Pines Drive and then add another lane up to Grogan's Mill Road.

More details of the whole plan can be found at   http://vactx.org/montgomery-county-road-bond   or   http://www.precinct3.org/precinct-three-road-bond-project-list/ .  We have not seen the detailed plans for this development.
Water Wise Challenge

There is still time!!

As an incentive to conserve the local water supply, The Woodlands Township Environmental Services Department has invited the residents and village associations of The Woodlands to participate in the Water-Wise Village Challenge. The goal of this challenge is for residents to pledge that they will turn off the automated sprinkler system or not water the grass until April 15. The pledge is available online at the following link: http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/waterpledge.  Every village that has at least 50 people who sign up will received a monetary prize, if we qualify our prize will go to local schools.

Turf, particularly the St. Augustine grass that most of us use,  goes dormant during winter and does not require watering during this time, so this should not affect how your home looks.

Watch Talk Wednesday
Crime Scene Investigation  will be the subject of a Watch Talk Wednesday presentation by the Sheriff's office on March 25, noon till 1p.m. at the Town Hall, 2801 Technology Forest Drive Public Meeting Room.  Presented by Leslie McCauley, Crime Scene Investigator for the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.  Find out about the duties of a real crime scene investigator and what tools he or she has available to use.

Farmers' Market to Change Name
The Grogan's Mill Farmers' Market will be changing its name to 'The Woodlands Farmers' Market at Grogan's Mill'.   The Grogan's Mill name was too specific and not   very   well-known outside The Woodlands .  T he new name should make its location recognizable to a larger audience.
