An Important Reminder for Those with Sprinkler Systems
When you receive your water bill about half of the expense will be for sewer services (you can see it on the bill). Your sewer charges are related to the amount of water you use.  Most of the water in the summer months is used to sprinkle lawns and does not use sewers.  To adjust for this The Woodlands Joint Powers Authority bases your sewer charge for the year on your water consumption in the December-February time period when lawns don't need to be watered.  Save money by turning off your sprinkler system now through March.

Support Your Local Businesses
An unfortunate side effect of the construction on Grogan's Mill Road is that the business owners in the Grogan's Mill Village Center have told us that they have seen their sales drop substantially.
So when you are considering going out to eat, grocery shop, get a haircut, manicure, etc., please consider visiting the great restaurants and businesses that are located in the Grogan's Mill Village Center and support local.

Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market Open December 21st
The Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market is open every Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon at the Grogan's Mill Village Center.  Bring your out-of-town guests visiting over the Thanksgiving Weekend to the market this Saturday, November 30th.  If you're "turkeyed-out" by this weekend, our food vendors will have plenty of tasty alternatives.  You'll find fully prepared Indian, Italian, Mediterranean, Cajun, and Mexican dishes that you can take home to heat and eat.  Plus there are always delectable candies, nuts, breads and baked goods as well as gluten-free items.
All of our vendors will have special offerings during the Holiday Season so consider gift shopping for something unique made by our local artists and manufacturers.  The Farmer's Market will be open each Saturday through December 21st, and then we'll take a one weekend break (December 28th) to give the vendors and volunteers an opportunity to celebrate the Holidays with their family and friends.
Mark your calendar for live music from Grifters & Shills on December 14th at the market.
Who is Responsible for Cul-de-sac Islands?
The GMVA is often asked who is responsible for the cul-de-sac islands which we find on many of our streets.  In most cases the responsiblity lies with the residents to maintain the appearance of the cul-de-sac on their street. The Township maintains what is known as "jumbo cul-de-sacs."  Those are the islands with over 3400 square feet and which are typically found at the head of the street.
Grogan's Mill Participated in the 3R Bazaar
The GMVA delivered all the caps and corks that have been saved over the past year to the "How Green is your Village" event at the 3R Bazaar earlier this month.  The picture at left shows GMVA volunteers sorting caps and corks at the event.  Yes, they needed those gloves!  We will hear in January which village won the friendly competition.
Grogan's Mill will participate again next year, so keep saving your caps and corks.  You can drop off caps and corks every Saturday at the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market, or contact any Board member to arrange a pick up.
No GMVA Meeting in December
There will not be a GMVA meeting in December.  Please join us for our next regularly scheduled meeting at 6:30 pm at The Woodlands Township Building on January 20, 2014.  If you have questions, concerns or just wish to share comments with your GMVA Board members, you may contact us at any time through our website at www.grogansmillvillage.com.
