|Calling All "Cheerleaders", We Want You!
Six thousand runners will be participating in The Woodlands Marathon the morning of Saturday, March 3rd. The Liberty Mutual Village Cheer Challenge is a way for The Woodlands Marathon to give back to the Village Associations and other organizations in our community. The Cheer Challenge was developed to support and encourage each village of The Woodlands to participate in cheering on their local runners. Every team will adopt a theme that can be expressed in dress and entertainment while enthusiastically cheering the marathoners as they run by the team's station.
Each Village that participates will be awarded $250 just for meeting the criteria set forth. They are encouraged to dedicate the $250 toward the scholarships presented annually to students in their Villages. At the end of the event additional monetary awards will be presented to the top three Village Cheer Teams, as determined by the marathon runners in a post-event survey. The awards are 1st $750, 2nd $600 and 3rd $500. Grogan's Mill Village needs at least 30 participants to qualify. You can join our team for an hour or two, or stay for the entire race, estimated to be around four hours. The Cheer Challenge provides a great opportunity for an entertaining and low-cost family outing that benefits the students in our community!
We encourage you to register as a Grogan's Mill Village participant by going to this web site, http://www.thewoodlandsmarathon.com/index.php/event-info/village-cheer-challenge/ under the section labeled Forms, click on waiver, print and sign the waiver. (This does not commit you to participating but is required should you decide to join the fun). The waiver releases the organizers from anything that happens to you while participating.
The forms can be mailed to Dabney Wisenbaker, 14 Snowbird Place, The Woodlands 77381 or scanned and emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. If you can't scan, give Deborah Sargeant a call at 713-725-2791 and she will make arrangements to scan them for you.
Time is of the essence. Please enroll as soon as you can.
