Grogan's Mill Road Closure
Construction has begun on Grogan's Mill Road for the installation of new water pipes between Woodlands Parkway and South Millbend.  The southbound lanes between South Millbend and North Millbend will be closed in the near future.  Crossovers are being paved in preparation for routing traffic for both directions into what is now the northbound lane.
A specific date has not been set for construction which will start at South Millbend.  The intersection at North Millbend will remain open.  The construction between Woodlands Parkway and South Millbend will be finished by January 2014.  Construction between Woodlands Parkway and Research Forest will begin in January and be finished by April 2014.

It is likely that you will only be able to enter the Grogan's Mill shopping center from South Millbend during the construction.
Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market Continues to WOW Customers
The Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market has added several new vendors this summer and favorite vendors are returning after the long, hot summer.  Come on out and enjoy the offerings.
Have you "liked" the market on Facebook?  You never know when there might be an offer of a $2-off coupon.  Most recently, the market coordinator gave children a $2-off coupon to the market if they showed up with an umbrella on a rainy Saturday morning.
Mark your calendars for future Market events including another major Children's Day on Saturday, October 26th and live bluegrass music from Grifters & Shills on November 23rd.
September YOM Winner Announced
September 2013 YOM
Jos and Kiek Aarts of Southgate Drive were awarded September Yard of the Month

The Aarts were both born in Holland. After schooling in Austin, Jos joined CB&I for a career lasting 46 years. During that time, they spent many years living in the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the US before settling down in Grogan's Point in 1998. They have three grown children: Tonya, Eric, and Vincent. Jos and Kiek moved to their present house in 2007 attracted, in part, by the home's beautiful landscaping. Over the years, they worked to enhance it even more. Their love of plants and the outdoors is obvious by the meticulous care they provide to the Knockout Roses, Plumbago, Boxwood, Crepe Myrtle, Mexican Heather, Camellias, Azaleas, and more.

Hurricane Season - Continue to be Prepared

To date, the 2013 Hurricane Season has been one of the milder on record.  However, there is no guarantee that our good fortune will continue.  Most residents of the Gulf Coast Region would be quick to point out that we are just now entering into what is considered the peak of hurricane season in our area.  Typically, mid-September to mid-October tends to be the time of year when we are most likely to be impacted by a hurricane.

Please take the opportunity to review your Family Communication Plans; refresh your Bugout Backpacks; replenish your supplies of water, food, propane, gasoline, batteries, medications, contact lenses, and other essential items that you will need to have on hand in an emergency.
You can use the resources of The Woodlands CERT website (http://www.twcert.com) for more information.
