|Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market Celebrates "Back to School"
The Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market celebrates "Back to School" on Saturday, August 31st. Every student (12 and under) who shows us their new backpack at the Market booth will receive a $2 off coupon good for a purchase at any of the market vendors (2 coupon maximum per family). In addition, there will be a bouncy house and other surprises for the children as well as cooking demonstrations using the Market's fresh produce and other foods.

|Tax Rates Lowered
The Woodlands Township Board of Directors voted unanimously to adopt the 2014 budget and set the tax rate at 29.40 cents per $100 of taxable property value, which is 2.33 cents less than the current tax rate of 31.73 cents. Several of the MUD districts are also lowering their tax rates.
|Township Board Election in November
Three at-large positions on The Woodlands Township Board of Directors will be elected in the November 2013 election, designated as positions 5, 6, 7. Bruce Tough (position 7) and Peggy Hausman (position 6) are running unopposed for their seats. The seat being vacated by Nelda Luce Blair (position 5) is contested by Jason Rocha and John McMullan.
|Resolution to Rename Portion of I-45|
Montgomery County commissioners approved a resolution that supports naming a portion of Interstate 45 George P. Mitchell Memorial Highway.
Commissioners voted unanimously in favor of House Bill 8, which requests the Texas Department of Transportation to designate the segment of I-45 from the Texas 242 south to the Harris County line.
Signs will be placed along the freeway, recognizing Mitchell, the founder of The Woodlands. "The signs will be a fitting tribute to Mr. Mitchell," Precinct 3 County Commissioner James Noack said.

For the first time ever, guests are allowed to bring in food at the contemporary events at The Pavilion. Each guest is permitted to bring in a one gallon plastic bag of food for personal consumption.
