Apply for the Grogan's Mill Village Scholarship

Each year, the Grogan's Mill Village Association, serving on behalf of the residents of the community, raises the funds and awards several $1,000 scholarships to outstanding local students pursuing higher education. This scholarship is intended to recognize and encourage a spirit of community involvement and good citizenship among students residing in the village.

Scholarships are open to all graduating high school and current college students, who are residents of Grogan's Mill at the time of application. Applicants must also be in good standing at their school at the time of application. Applicants may attend either a 2 or 4 year college or vocational school.

Applications are available on the Grogan's Mill Website and must be post-marked no later than April 11, 2014.

Road Closures for Woodlands Marathon this Saturday
The Woodlands Marathon is this Saturday, March 1st, beginning at 7am.  Please check the race route and traffic information before you head out on Saturday.
It looks like all race traffic will be clear of the Grogan's Mill Shopping Center before the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market opens at 8am.  Why not cheer on your favorite runner along Millbend, and then stop by the Farmer's Market for some breakfast?
GMVA Donates to Local Schools

Dana Denton, Vice-President of the Grogan's Mill Village Association (GMVA) and Christie Collins, board member and School Liaison for the GMVA, recently presented checks for one thousand dollars each to the Principals of Hailey Elementary, Lamar Elementary, Wilkerson Intermediate and Knox Junior High Schools.

Recognizing that excellent schools contribute to the quality of life and property values in Grogan's Mill and
that there are always unmet needs in the schools, the GMVA has donated money annually to the four schools in Grogan's Mill since 2005.  The GMVA board congratulates the schools in Grogan's Mill for their outstanding performance.

Funds for GMVA's philanthropic activities are derived from the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market.  The Market is held every Saturday from 8 am to 12 noon year round at the Grogan's Mill Village Center, and is supported by volunteers from the Grogan's Mill Village Association.

Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market "Going Green", March 15th
The Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market is "Going Green" on Saturday, March 15th.  We'll honor St. Patrick's Day with special activities for the kids, tips for how your family can go green with diets and lifestyles, and other surprises throughout the morning.  If you don't already receive it, sign-up for our weekly e-blast that gives listings of the vendors participating each Saturday, as well as the produce and other wares you can expect to find.  Look for more details about "Going Green" and other special events in our upcoming e-blasts and at the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market Facebook page

Turn Caps and Corks into Scholarships

This month, The Woodlands GREEN presented a check to the Grogan's Mill Village Assocation for $1075, which will go towards scholarships and school donations.  At the 3R Bazaar last November, our village recycled the highest number of corks and were third for the weight of caps recycled. We recycled 258 pounds of caps, an increase over last year!

Thank you to everyone who has saved their corks and caps throughout the year.  Our village received the most money from the challenge and we are excited to be able to turn that into a college scholarship!  You can drop them off at the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market every Saturday morning.  The caps and corks challenge happens every November, so we will be accepting them all year long.
