Requests to the The Woodlands Township Budget
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The GMVA is requesting that the Township consider in its budget for 2015, a basic maintenance plan for the 192 cul-de-sacs we have in Grogan's Mill Village along with all the cul-de-sacs in The Woodlands. Currently, maintaining the cul-de-sacs is the responsibility of the neighborhood, except for the ones over 3,400 square feet.  Unfortunately, many cul-de-sacs are unloved and unsightly.  We have also requested an upgrade to the landscaping along Grogan's Mill Road between North and South Millbend.
West Nile Virus Found in Local Mosquitos
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mosquitos infected with West Nile virus have been found in various parts of The Woodlands. The Township has published an informative brochure on how to avoid this potentially fatal disease.

Township News
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Township is preparing it's annual budget for 2015 and will be doing so through August 5.  The budget is posted on their Website.  You can also watch the hearings as they are being held and afterwards using the video links. It's worth a visit.
July 2014 Yard of the Month Winners Announced
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Mike and G.G. Krall of North Royal Fern are the July 2014 Yard of the Month winners.

Mike and G.G. Krall moved to the Woodlands in 2000. Since G.G. was from Louisiana, she was hoping for a home with a Southern Louisiana look to it. She found that look in the house they now live in on Royal Fern. The porch with rockers are a welcome sign to friends and neighbors. The yard has crepe myrtles, azaleas, and a nice big oak tree; all very familiar sights in the south. The color comes from snapdragons, begonias, and dianthus. The gardenias and day lilies are also Southern bloomers. "The Woodlands is where we want to be. The flowers are reminders of where we came from," says G.G.  Pictured are Jody Ronzio, who found this home, and G.G. Krall.

GMVA Scholarship Winners Announced
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Three Grogan's Mill residents and recent graduates of College Park High School, were each awarded $1,000 scholarships. Jade Smith, Jimena Gambon Bonilla, and Madison McDonald are all excellent students who have overcome obstacles and stayed on track to achieve their goals. Congratulations to our winners as they head off to college.
Erosion Concern for Panther Branch Creek
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Residents of High Oaks and Grogan's Point have been concerned with the erosion of Panther Branch Creek which runs parallel with Sawdust road from the very sharp curve to Grogan's Point Road,  This is the area in which a major new development is being planned for the near future.  A meeting is being planned with the developer, MUD's 2 and 46, the WJPA and the GMVA.  When a date and place is established we will publish that information in a newsletter and on our Facebook page.

Vacancy on GMVA Board
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Become a voice for your neighborhood.
We have a vacancy on the GMVA Board because one of our members moved. If you would be interested in being on the Board send a note with a brief writeup about yourself and why you would like to be on the board to president@gmva.org.
