Millbend Loop Pathway Improvements will Cause Closing
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beginning November 8th the east end of the Millbend Loop pathway will be closed from Fernridge and North Millbend to Fernridge and South Millbend.
The closing will last about 45 days while the pathway is being renovated. Renovations will start on the south side and work their way north.  You can find details of the construction at http://www.thewoodlandstownship-tx.gov/index.aspx?NID=879
Update on Damaged Bridge
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A plan to replace the pathway bridge between Grogan's Point and the GM Shopping Center damaged in the the June and July storms, is being presented to the Township Board this week.  A new wooden bridge, elevated two feet above ground level is being proposed.  The old bridge was 22 feet long, the new one would be 60 feet long and supported by helix piers.  Estimated cost for the new bridge is $46,000.

How to Save on your Water Bill if you have a Sprinkler System ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Starting this past October the rate for a gallon of water increased by more than 15% in The Woodlands.  The rate will increase by at least 50 cents a thousand gallons every year for the next three years to support the ground water system that is being installed to support our water needs. If your sprinkler system is more than a couple of years old it probably needs a tuning up: it will have damaged heads, parts will be covered with grass and there likely will be other problems

The Woodlands Joint Power Agency sponsors the WISE Guys program.  If you sign up for WISE Guys at http://www.vepollc.com/wise_request_gis.aspx?wid=1006 a licensed irrigator will visit your home and inspect, with you, your system.  He will then provide a detailed report on your problems.  If they are many he will also give you a proposal for repairs, but there is no pressure to go ahead with the repairs. You should give it a try.

Don't be Surprised to See Scuba Divers in the Lakes ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Eight lakes in the township will be desilted in the next two months, Tamarac Pond, in Tamarac Park is among the selected lakes with approximately a foot of silt removed from it.  A new system involving the taking of organic material is being used in which a diver takes a large vacuum and cleans out the bottom of the lake.  The material may be used as landfill in other parts of the community.

New Restaurant in the GM Shopping Center ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A new Mexican restaurant, Taco USA, will be opening in the vacant storefront between the Woodforest Bank and Chef Chan's in late January.  We will report with more details when we get them.

Part-time Work Opportunities at the Market
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sign for Farmer's MarketBecause of the warm and wet Fall this year, the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market has abundant amounts of fresh squash, locally grown tomatoes, beets, potatoes, leafy greens, eggplant and many other fresh items.
The popularity of the market continues to increase with new vendors joining us as we grow our customer base.  If you haven't been to the market lately, come out and explore what's available this time of year.
If you're looking for a part-time job opportunity, or know someone who is, stop by the GMVA tent at the market for information.  Several of our vendors are looking for representatives to sell for them on Saturday mornings at the Farmer's Market.
