Do You have a Sprinkler System?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A number of areas in The Woodlands have had power outages of late.  If this has happened you should check the timer on your sprinkler system to make sure you are still operating with the correct date and time on the defined irrigation schedule.  Odd numbered homes can water Tuesday and Friday and even numbered homes on Wednesday and Saturday from 8PM till 6AM the next day.
Were you Shocked by Your Recent Appraisal?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Many residents of The Woodlands recently received news appraisals of their property and a notice that indicates that the future tax bill would be higher.  You can protest your appraised value either online on by mail with a form you should have received with the appraisal.

The two basic reasons for protesting.
  • your home is valued at a higher price than other similar homes in your neighborhood.  The easiest way to check is to find out the appraised market value of your home from the form you received and get the value per square foot.  You can easily compare that with your neighbors by going to http://www.mcad-tx.org/html/records.html  "RECORDS" "ADDRESS SEARCH' and then enter your street name.  You will find all the home on you street and you can by checking on individual addresses find out their square feet and their appraisal.
  • The other reason is by showing that your home is below average in quality for the neighborhood, having termites, wood damage etc. are valid reasons.
