Elections for Village Associations and RDRCs
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are seven open positions on the GMVA and only six candidates signed up.  If you are interested you can write your name in as a write-in candidate and so can your supporters.
Sawmill Road Extension?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A local office building is marketing their location by noting that Sawmill Road will be extended to the new Grand Parkway. The project to build this extension is being pushed by the North Houston Association, a powerful business group. You can view their proposals on the NHA Website.  We checked with the County Commissioners office, and they tell us that the cost of building the road would be $40 million, therefore it is not high on their priority list.
Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market

Sign for Farmer's Market

Be sure to bring the youngsters with you when shopping at the Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market each Saturday morning.  We're planning special activities and features that appeal to our youngest customers with something different each week.  If you weren't at last Saturday's market (2/09) you missed the astonishing Michael, Balloon Artist extraordinaire, who produced amazing and complex balloon hats, crowns, animals, toys and more.  Plus, Hammond Farms brought two of the most darling baby goats you'd ever want to see for petting.  It was hard to decide which "kids" were the cutest....the two or four legged variety!

Our vendors are there

at the market each Saturday morning eager to see our customers!  The offerings include fresh produce, artisan breads and other baked goods, free-range chickens and grass-fed beef, roasted nuts as well as gluten free nut butters goat cheese,and lotions  and soaps, Texas olive oil,  local Texas honey, delicious prepared Indian and Mediterranean specialties along with all the varieties of Grande Tamales.  If you have allergies, check out the chemical-free soaps and cleansers
.  We hope to see you at the market!
The Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market takes place every Saturday morning from 8 am until 12 noon at the Grogan's Mill Village Center, the corner of Grogan's Mill Road and South Millbend.

For more information, please see the GMVA Website.  For the latest updates, subscribe to the weekly Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market newsletter and like us on Facebook.
Cheer a Runner, Help a Kid Go to College, Have Fun!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Woodlands Marathon will be held on Saturday March 2.  To encourage the runners each village is participating in a Village Cheer Challenge.  The village that is rated the highest by the runners, will get a cash prize from the organizers.  We will be cheering from 8AM until about noon.
We had lots of fun last year and felt as if we were participants in the race. Our theme will be St. Patrick's day so we will be wearing and carrying all things green. Our station will be at the corner of Lake Robbins Drive and the Northbound lane of Grogan's Mill (HEB store corner).  The top prize is $1,000, which will be used toward the Grogan's Mill Scholarship Fund.  One of the items considered when we are evaluating our scholarships is how much community participation the student has been involved in.
If you are interested in participating please contact bruce.cunningham@me.com for more information or go to the Marathon web site,  http://www.thewoodlandsmarathon.com  and click on "Event Info"  and then on "Village Cheer".
