Bypass Piping Along Sawdust
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) is performing rehabilitation on the force main that runs along Sawmill and connects to the lift station at the Northwest corner of the Grogan's Mill and Sawmill intersection.
This rehabilitation of the force main requires that new force main be installed and connected to the existing infrastructure. At this time work on the new force main is completing and SJRA has begun installing the temporary bypass piping. This bypass piping is used to temporarily bypass the existing piping upstream of where the new piping will be connected.
SJRA has said that the bypass lines will be in use for a period of 3 to 5 days. However, these line will be on site and in location of longer than that. During the connection process there was an impact to the school bus entrance at Hailey Elementary. Specifically, the narrow width of the ramp meant that the buses needed to enter each ramp straight on. Since they were turning in the lane with the ramp the narrow width required them block off Sawmill while entering the school.
The Township became involved and requested on behalf of Hailey Elementary that this ramp be removed. SJRA removed the ramp the following day. The ramps removed should not be reinstalled until after school lets out for the holidays. Due to the delay it can be expected that the bypass ramps and piping will be on site and in location for another 2 - 3 Weeks.
Major Changes in Trash Collection Starting January
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Township will be distributing new wheeled 96 gallon trash cans for recycling early in January.  They will be used in conjunction with the 96 gallon garbage containers you already have.  These containers will replace the smaller containers you already have.

Detailed information on the new garbage plan is in this month's Community Magazine or can be found at the Township Website.
February Elections

Elections for GMVA area representatives and Members of the RDRC will be held in February.  The GMVA will be electing eight area representatives and five Board members to the RDRC.

If you are interested in participating in one of these organizations, you will need to file between December 29th and January 19th.  Detailed information on the elections can be found at Township web site

Reminder: Fireworks Prohibited in The Woodlands
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Woodlands Fire Department reminds all residents that The Woodlands Covenants strictly prohibit the sale or use of fireworks and sparklers of any kind in The Woodlands.
"Our community is situated in a beautiful forest, and with the dry conditions we have experienced this year, one errant spark poses severe damage to buildings, houses and neighborhoods," said Fire Chief Alan Benson.
For more information, please contact The Woodlands Fire Department at 281-367-3444.
