Your New Board
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two new board members were elected in February: Christie Collins and Jacky Waters.  At its March meeting the Board elected George VanHorn as President, Dana Denton as Vice President, Jacky Waters as Secretary and Bob Leilich as Treasurer.  We welcome the new members and thank those who served this past year.
At its planning meeting, the GMVA Board allocated $4,000 to school funding, $2,000 to scholarships, $5,000 to support the Farmer's Market, and $2,500 for other community events.
Protect Your Property
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Sheriffs Office recommends that you register your property with LeadsOnline.  This system maintains secure records of property you own. You may store serial numbers, item descriptions, pictures, and scans of receipts so that your items may be more easily identified in the event of theft or loss. This record may also come in handy when reporting any loss to your insurance provider. The link to the site is https://reportit.leadsonline.com/
Do You Want to Live in a Cleaner Community?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This Saturday, March 23, is Earth Day GreenUp.  Gather your family and neighbors to participate in this Woodlands-wide community event.  Even young children can learn about taking care of our environment.  Registration is 8 to 10am at Sawmill Park, off of Grogan's Mill Road. Your group will be assigned an area to clean up litter and will be provided tools, gloves and bags. The GreenUp is coordinated by The Woodlands Township and sponsored by The Woodlands G.R.E.E.N and others.
Following the GreenUp, the celebration party takes place at Northshore Park from 11 am to 10:30 pm.   Headlining band, Vocal Trash, will entertain and all volunteers will be treated to pizza and drinks; food tickets will be on sale to the general public.  Nature booths, free face painting, and popular kid's activities from the Ecology Carnival makes this a great family event with a purpose we can all relate to.
Good Neighbor Day, Wind Whisper Ct.
First Ever Children's Day a Great Success at the Farmer's Market
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

baloon Darth VaderThe Grogan's Mill Farmer's Market staged their first "Children's Day" last Saturday and were overwhelmed with the popularity of the event.  Besides the long line of eager children waiting for their balloon "sculpture" from Michael, the Balloon Artist extraordinaire, there were hands-on gardening and art activities for the them. The boys and girls really liked the live worms!  Baby chicks and piglets were on loan from two of our vendors and displayed so that the kids could get up close, and even pet, farm animals, some for the very first time.  Michael displayed his balloon Darth Vader and Yoda (left) for all to see.

With the success of our first big themed event, look for future special days dedicated not only to our youngest customers, but also to their parents.

If you haven't visited yet, now is the perfect time of the year to visit the Farmer's Market.  The weather is beautiful and you'll find the fresh Spring fruits and vegetables, including tomatoes, now available at our farmers' stands.  The Market is open every Saturday morning (rain or shine) from 8 am to 12 noon in the front parking lot of the Grogan's Mill Village Center .  Come early for the best selections.

Construction Has Begun on the Pathway Bridge
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Construction began the first week of this month on the pedestrian bridge between Grogan's Point and the Grogan's Mill Village Center.  Construction is scheduled to be finished in mid-April.
Marathon Cheer Team Thrills the Crowd
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

2013 Marathon Cheer TeamGrogan's Mill had a very enthusiastic showing at the Woodlands Marathon earlier this month.  Our team was dressed to the nines in St. Patrick's Day green, complete with a life-sized leprechaun.  The cheer team reports that the day was a lot of fun and they felt very much a part of the marathon.

The team encourages you all to think about joining them next year, because it was such a good time!

Are you Interested in Better and Safer Biking in The Woodlands?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There is as emerging group of cyclists who are interested in making The Woodlands a better and safer bicycling community.  In order to do this we need to show the politicians that we have support from the community: we want better shoulders, road markings and a plan for future development.  We are asking James Noack, the Precinct Commissioner responsible for the road network, and the board members of The Woodlands Township to support our efforts. Flood Plain Mapping
