Trustees of Gramercy Park:
Preparing for Winter and Holidays

Park Caretaker Amando Flores is busy preparing for cold weather and the holidays.  He describes some of the work below:
  • Removing begonias from 41 tree gardens surrounding the Park

  • Planting over 30,000 bulbs throughout the Park including a variety of: tulips, daffodils, mini daffodils, alliums, bluebells, crocuses, grape hyacinths, etc

  • Gathering 75 bags of leaves daily

  • Winterizing plants - applying fertilizer, mulch

  • Shutting down Park irrigation system to keep pipes from freezing, bursting

  • Continuing to clean sidewalks - Until a few years ago, caretakers were unable to hose sidewalks because of the water shutdown. Since then we have separated our water lines to allow them to do so.

  • Thursday, 12/1 - Park Christmas tree arrives
