Featured Member: Ashley Diersch

This month's Featured Member is Ashley Diersch. Ashley is our GRYP newest GRYP Board member, joining us as the new Co-Director of Development! To welcome Ashley into her role, what better way than to showcase her as this month's Featured Member?!

We asked Ashley a few questions. See what she had to say below!
Tell us a little about yourself.
Where to start? :) I am relatively new to Grand Rapids, I have only been here about five years now and I love it! I grew up on the East Side of the state, went to college to be a physical therapist and realized that wasn’t the right dream for me and then changed schools and degrees which has led me to find my dream job, at Kids’ Food Basket. I love to travel, read (all genres of books - current reads are Radical Candor and Lean In), spend time at the lake/fish and work! I love to work! :) I am also on the DA Blodgett St. John’s Emerging Leader Council and on the planning committee for a new Asian Youth Conference we are working on for the fall.

Why did you join GRYP?
I joined GRYP to meet new people and experience all GR has to offer. I’ve been here for a few years now but it has only been in more recent years that I have really felt like this is home. Part of that is meeting more people and really seeing everything this great city has to offer and GRYP has helped me do some of that.

What's your favorite event?
My favorite event is the gala, partially because I am on the planning committee and partially because I think it is a great networking opportunity and a great way to recognize that young professionals are really moving the needle in the city through their work and their passions.

How long have you been a member?
I’ve been a member for about two years now and just joined the board.

What area of work are you in?
I am the Development Director at Kids’ Food Basket. I have worked in nonprofit fundraising for the past 11 years and truly love working as a change agent.

What's your favorite thing to do in Grand Rapids?
Since I am still relatively new to the city, I love to explore and try new restaurants and breweries.
Trivia Night
Wednesday, May 2
Break out your acid wash jeans, flannel, and best boy band concert tee for a night of 90s themed trivia! In this fun-filled evening, teams of six will go head to head, testing their knowledge of all things 90s!

So dig deep in the closet for those old clothes you knew would be in again someday, do up that old hairstyle favorite, and join us for a trivia night you don't want to miss!
Summer Golf Clinics
Tuesdays and Wednesdays beginning in May
Summer will be here before you know it and for most professionals that means it's almost time to get back on the golf game. GRYP will be hosting summer golf clinics. Whether you’ve never picked up a golf club before or perhaps need a refresher, this opportunity is for you.

You can choose to meet either Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at Thornapple Pointe beginning May 22nd.

Session topics include: chipping and putting, grip/stance/posture/beginning golf swing, review on fundamentals, and complete golf swing
