STATEMENT FROM GSCS - RESIGNATION OF ALESHIA MCCRAY
Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) has accepted the resignation of Aleshia McCray as principal of Cowan Road Elementary School.

Ms. McCray was placed on leave October 5, 2017 pending the outcome of an investigation by GSCS. The investigation has concluded with the following findings of several violations by Ms. McCray as principal of Cowan Road Elementary School:

GSCS COMMUNICATIONS DEPARTMENT WINS FIVE STATE AWARDS

The Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) Communications Department received three Gold Award of Merit and two Silver Awards of Merit. The awards were presented at the Georgia School Public Relations Association (GSPRA) annual conference in Saint Simons Island on October 22-23, 2017.
 
The highest ranking Gold Award of Merit was for the "GSCS Can't Stop the Feeling" video which was shown at the 2017 Education Celebration to get our educators and administrators pumped up and excited to kick-off the 2017-18 school year. Judges commented that the video was a great concept, well executed and a lot of fun.
 
The district's 2017-18 School Calendar earned Gold Award recognition for being easy to read and a great resource for parents.
 
The school system's weekly staff e-newsletter, The GSCS Communicator, also received a Gold Award.  Judges stated that the newsletter is well-written and contains lots of great information for employees.
MARUKAN VINEGAR CONTRIBUTES $10,000 TO GRIFFIN-SPALDING PARTNERS IN EDUCATION
Marukan Vinegar (U.S.A) Inc. announced their commitment to partner with the Griffin-Spalding County School System (GSCS) by contributing $10,000 to Griffin-Spalding Partners In Education (PIE) during the grand opening of their Griffin brewery on Oct. 25.

Marukan Vinegar agreed to be a district-wide PIE with a focus on Futral Road Elementary, Rehoboth Road Middle School and Spalding High School. In addition, they committed to supporting the Georgia REACH Scholarship program at Rehoboth Road Middle School, the annual PIE Golf Tournament and the annual GSCS Teacher of the Year program.

These two teachers recently planned and organized our second annual Family Game Night, which was enjoyed by all who attended. They also provide leadership in our school and are model teachers in the classroom. Ms. Ayers and Ms. Garnto go above and beyond for our students each day and we are grateful for their commitment and hard work!

Antoinette Huguley
Ms. Huguley has been a great addition to the KRMS family this year. She always has a positive attitude and a big smile on her face. Ms. Huguley does a great job of providing engaging math instruction to her students. She is always there to support her students in their extracurricular activities and also coaches our step team. KRMS is lucky to have Ms. Huguley as part of our team!!!!

REHOBOTH ROAD MIDDLE
Kathy Duke
Kathy is an integral part of our staff at RRMS. Not only is she a phenomenal science teacher and leader in our school system. She works with the Georgia Tech Amp-It-Up curriculum and is always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone or to help on any project at our school. She has been working side by side this year with our PTO and Parent Involvement Coordinator to increase parent involvement. Through her work and the work of her committee, parent engagement is on the rise at Rehoboth Road Middle School.
GHS THEATRE PRESENTS A BRIDGE TO A TWELFTH NIGHT
