Girl Scouts 100th is off to a Great Start!

SEVEN Service Units registered 75% of their end of the year (2010-2011) membership by October 1. This is an amazing accomplishment! We recognize and sincerely appreciate the hard work that you put in to making this happen. The Service Units that achieved this goal are:

Baker Trails, Black Creek, Nassau, Putnam,

Sawamish, Twin Hills and Whispering Pines.

Congratulations to Baker Trails and Whispering Pines, the winners of the drawing for $100 to be used at the Girl Scout Store or for GSGC camping or program!

Three on-time troops have won the drawing for $100 to be used at the Girl Scout Store or for GSGC camping or program:

Troop 1490 (Kanapaha),

Troop 905 (Whispering Pines)

Troop 832 (Golden Sands)

4,733 girls and 2,938 adults were registered by October 1 - an increase of 1,452 girls over the same time last year! 3,038 girls registered by October 1 were registered on-line, with another 1,339 adults renewing their membership on-line as well! This represents 41% of the total membership renewing online by the October 1st deadline! Congratulations to all! We are off to a great start!

San Agustin Application Deadline Approaching

   Docents: For 6th Grade Girls

San Agustin Docents will experience St. Augustine in the 1700s as they walk in the footsteps of young colonial women, sew and wear period clothing, use wooden spoons and bowls to eat authentic open-fire meals, sleep in marquee shelters. Docents must be in 6th grade, and submit application and reference form by 11/10/11 to audition.  Applications and details here

Older Girl Docents: For 10th-12th Grade Girls

10th and 12th grade girls will turn back the hands of time and experience life as young women in 18th century St. Augustine. They will dress in period clothing, live without modern day luxuries, and work with adults to lead 6th grade docents in a memorable encampment experience. Applicants must be 10th through 12th grade, and submit application and reference form by 11/10/11.   Applications and details here

All docent applicants will receive a confirmation with information about auditions. Girls will be selected based upon their application, references, and skills demonstrated at the audition on 1/7/12. If girls are selected, they will receive a confirmation with information about the required overnight Training Weekend in February. Then on the weekend of 3/30-4/1/12 they will showcase their newfound leadership skills at the San Agustin Reenactment Encampment.
