Understanding Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs):
Impact on Health, Wellness & Education
Amy Scheel-Jones from the Monroe County Office of Mental Health will cover:
  • the original ACEs study including key findings,
  • how ACEs impact the brain, 
  • the connection to our local schools 
 
Participants then learn about the findings from the Monroe County YRBS/ACEs analysis laying the foundation for the importance of implementing change in order to improve a full array of education/health outcomes.
 
Ideas for practice change are offered such as the principles of trauma-informed schools and the value of resiliency in an introductory way.
