2012 GTA Am Logo

I am really excited to once again be hosting a GTA AM Tour event on August 25 at Heron Point Golf Links. This course, designed by renowned Canadian architect Thomas McBroom, holds a special memory for me. It was the location of the first event that I played competitive golf at 10 years ago under the predecessor tour name of "The Dunlop Tour". I had played a lot of competitive sports prior to my first golf competition and was well familiar with pre-game butterflies, which for anyone who has had them, usually last for a few minutes until you get settled in the game. Well 18 holes and 5 hours later I still had full-on butterflies in my stomach from nervous excitement. The same kind of feelings we hear The Tour rookies talk about when they step up to the first tee for their first event on the GTA AM Tour. Not only was it the worst case of Butterflies that I have experienced, it was also the worst score I have carded in a GTA TOUR event! So I have a little score to settle with myself next week and hope to improve my score by a good 30 strokes!!

I am also excited to be working with The Darling Home For Kids again this year! This will make it the  3 rd year of fundraising for a truly marvelous organization. They bring much needed services to medically fragile children and their families. There are a couple of ways funds will be raised this year:
1)       P J Dermody Insurance Brokers will donate $10 for each Birdie, $50 for each eagle and $100 for any hole in one recorded at this event
2)       Any player, family or friend could go online and make a donation directly at The Darling Home For Kids website or
3)       Make a donation at the registration table on August 25 th.
Any way you slice it, your efforts on or off the course will benefit The Darling Home For Kids and help them achieve their goals of providing services for families facing the daily challenges of caring for a child with complex medical needs.

This Tour has been a great source of community and, through our community, we are very fortunate to have opportunities to help others while we get to enjoy our passion. I look forward to seeing all of you at this event and hope that you "shoot the lights out" and help raise "Dollars for Darlings" again this year.

Another part of my support for this great Tour involves a draw for 2 LED TV's. You can get a ballot for this draw very simply by:
-           requesting a quote for any form of insurance from me(email to paul@dermodyinsurance.ca)
-           making any donation over $20 to the Darling Home for Kids or
-           simply registering to play in the P J Dermody Insurance Classic on August 25.

This draw will occur at the season ending event at The Tour Championship on September 27/28 at The Ridge at Manitou Golf Club.

See you soon and "Keep it in the short grass!"
Paul Dermody
