NTEA's Truck Equipment 101
As part of an ongoing effort to support workforce development in the industry, NTEA has produced Truck Equipment 101, a training program covering all aspects of work trucks and the industry - from chassis and powertrains to bodies and cab styles. This introductory course, made up of 15 video-based modules, provides an industry overview, insight into systems that make up a truck, and basic regulatory requirements applicable to U.S. and Canadian markets. EPA issues proposal to pull glider kits from GHG/MPG rule
Following up on an August promise to review Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Fuel Standards Phase 2 rule due to concerns raised by certain manufacturers, the Environmental Protection Agency issued a proposed rule that would repeal emission requirements for glider vehicles, glider engines and glider kits. Chanje electric vans unveiled
The Los Angeles, California-based electric vehicle supplier, Chanje, (pronounced "change") officially unveiled its electric medium-duty panel van in Brooklyn, New York, with Ryder taking delivery of 125 units for its rental and leasing fleet. Full story
Workhorse to launch, test new electric van with delivery drone option
Workhorse Group will begin commercial testing with an undisclosed online retailer early next year of a new low-step electric delivery truck, some of which will be outfitted with the company's "HorseFly" last-mile delivery drone. Full story
UPS to convert diesel delivery trucks to electric
UPS and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority plan to use new technology to convert UPS package delivery vehicles from diesel to electric. UPS and Unique Electric Solutions LLC will design, build, test and make the conversions. Full story
Nikola announces Bosch, PowerCell as fuel cell suppliers
Nikola Motor Co., which is developing a Class 8 hydrogen-electric truck, appointed Bosch Group and PowerCell AB the primary suppliers of the truck's fuel cells - key elements of the truck's powertrain. Full story
