Perhaps over the past several weeks you have had an opportunity to attend one of the six Every Student Succeeds Act public feedback sessions and have offered your thoughts and ideas on what should be addressed in the state's formal ESSA plan it will submit to the U.S. DOE next year. If not, tonight might be a good opportunity for you.
The Georgia Department of Education will be hosting a Twitter Chat tonight (Tuesday, Oct. 18) beginning at 7 p.m. This will be an online opportunity for stakeholders to share their feedback. The tweets will be recorded as part of the official feedback process.
Anyone can join in by following tweets from the Georgia Department of Education Twitter account (
@georgiadeptofed) and the hashtag
#ESSAChatGA. They will follow a basic script asking questions that will cover the five key areas of the plan: Accountability, Assessment, Education of the Whole Child, Teacher and Leader Development, and Federal Programs.
If you can't participate or the Twitter format is not good for you, there is another option to have your voice heard. You may E-mail your thoughts/comments directly to the GA DOE at
essa@doe.k12.ga.us. You can find more ESSA information on the
DOE and
Georgia Partnership web sites. Please share this information with anyone who might be interested.
