 Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute Maintains Three-Star Rating from Society of Thoracic Surgeons

Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute at Memorial Regional Hospital has maintained a three-star rating from the Society of Thoracic Surgeons in Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG) for five consecutive analysis periods between July 2009 and June 2012. In addition, Memorial achieved a three-star rating for Aortic Valve Replacement for the analysis periods during July 2009 to June 2012.

 

This recognition places Memorial's cardiac program in the top 6 percent in the nation for aortic valve replacement and in the top 14 percent in the nation for CABG.

 

Richard Perryman, MD is the medical director of Memorial Cardiac and Vascular Institute. The cardiac surgery team includes Michael Cortelli, MD, chief of adult cardiac surgery; Juan Plate, MD, cardiac surgeon; Lance Cohen, MD, intensivist and medical director of Heart Surgery Unit; Sean D. O'Donnell, MD, medical director of endovascular surgery; and Arthur Palamara, MD, vascular surgeon.

Mike Birdsong has been named Chief Information Officer at Health Choice Network (HCN), a nation-wide organization providing health information technology and business services to community health centers and health center controlled networks. He has served as Chief Technology Officer since joining HCN in 2011 and will now oversee CIO services for 45 health centers in 13 states. HCN is headquartered in Miami.

Palmetto General Hospital Announces New Chief Human Resources Officer

Palmetto General Hospital recently announced the appointment of Ana Gonzalez-Fajardo as the new Chief Human Resources Officer. With over 17 years of experience in Human Resources, Gonzalez-Fajardo was promoted from Human Resources Director and will oversee Human Resources along with labor relations and benefits.

Mount Sinai Medical Center Adds Gynecologic Oncologist to its Team

Nicholas Lambrou, MD has joined Mount Sinai Medical Center.  He will see patients at the Mount Sinai Comprehensive Cancer Center.  Dr. Lambrou attended medical school at Boston University, served his residency at Johns Hopkins and his fellowship at UM/Jackson.
