Boca Raton Regional Hospital Diabetes Education Program Earns American Diabetes Association Recognition

The Outpatient Diabetes Self-Management Education Program at Boca Raton Regional Hospital has been awarded continued recognition from the American Diabetes Association (ADA). This is the fifth consecutive time the Hospital has earned this distinction. Diabetes education is provided to Boca Regional patients through its Davis Therapy Centers. The ADA Education Recognition effort is a voluntary process that assures hospital-based diabetes education programs meet the National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education. Programs that achieve recognition status have also been shown to help significantly reduce overall health costs and improve participant health outcomes. Credentialed diabetes educators (CDE) are the only healthcare providers specifically trained in Diabetes Self-Management who provide state-of-the-art information about diabetes management for participants.

"The accreditation process gives professionals a national standard by which they can measure the quality of the services they provide," commented Nancy Talio, RN, CDE, Director of the Hospital's Diabetes Program. "Most importantly, having national recognition from the ADA will help consumers identify quality programs, so they will know they are getting the best service possible. We are again most gratified to have earned this recognition."
