Memorial Healthcare Approves Building Purchase, New ER

The governing board of Memorial Healthcare System voted to approve the acquisition of a Hollywood office building and the creation of a free-standing emergency room. The South Broward Hospital District Board of Commissioners met Wednesday (Dec. 11, 2013) at Memorial Regional Hospital to vote in favor of both items. The board approved the purchase of the 54,296-square-foot office at 3111 Stirling Road for $8.25 million, plus the allocation of an additional $1.75 million for repairs and modifications. In the other item, the commissioners decided to convert MHS's urgent care center at 801 S. Douglas Road in Pembroke Pines into a free-standing emergency room. Frank V.
