Baptist Health South Florida's website, BaptistHealth.net, has received a 2013 Hospital Website Transparency Award with Distinction from two national organizations that promote healthcare quality and safety. The honor recognizes outstanding hospital websites that promote transparency of quality measures in a manner that is helpful, practical and user-friendly for consumers. The Leapfrog Group and URAC (formerly known as the Utilization Review Accreditation Commission) presented the award to Baptist Health and two other hospitals at the Leapfrog Group's annual meeting in Crystal City, Va., on Dec. 3. |

Lubell Rosen Wins Appeal for Palm Beach County Medical Practice, Physician

Lubell Rosen partners Mark L. Rosen and Steve L. Lubell recently announced the successful appellate judgment for their client, defendants OB/GYN Specialists of the Palm Beaches and Marie Morel, MD. Lubell & Rosen and West Palm Beach appellate attorneys Rebecca Mercier Vargas and Jane Kreusler-Walsh of Kreusler-Walsh, Compiani & Vargas appealed a final judgment awarding the plaintiffs $2.5 million in damages, following a September 2011 jury trial in a medical malpractice action.

Valverde Leaves FIU to Become Humana Regional President

Regional President for Humana's Medicare markets in Florida. Valverde was CEO of FIU Health and Associate Dean for Community and Clinical Affairs at its medical school. He made $408,000 at the school in the 2012-2013 academic year. At Humana, Valverde takes the position formerly held by Dr. Terry Smith, who recently passed away after battling a long illness.
