Billionaire Frost helps engineer biotech merger

Brian Bandell For the third time in 2013, two companies with ties to billionaire Miami Beach entrepreneur Dr. Phillip Frost have agreed to merge. Bridgewater, N.J.-based Senesco Technologies (OTCBB: SNTI) agreed to merge with fellow biotech firm La Jolla, Calif.-based Fabrus. Miami-based OPKO Health (NYSE: OPK), where Frost is chairman, CEO and the largest shareholder, acquired 13 percent of Fabrus in 2010 as part of a $2 million capital raise. Frost joined Fabrus' board. OPKO Health, Inc. is a multinational pharmaceutical & diagnostics company.

2 PCPs Join Holy Cross Medical Group

Holy Cross Hospital President and CEO Patrick A. Taylor, MD announced that Drs. Audrey Liu and Veronica Munera have joined the Holy Cross Medical Group, a multi-specialty physician employed group of more than 160 physicians providing services throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties. Audrey Liu, MD Dr. Audrey Liu is board-certified in internal medicine and joins the Holy Cross Medical Group from the multi-specialty group practices of Stamford Health Integrated Practices and Greenwich Medical Group in Connecticut. Veronica Munera, MD Board-certified in internal medicine, Dr. Veronica Munera has joined the Holy Cross Medical Group's Multi-Specialty Group of West Broward, where she will serve as a primary care physician. Prior to joining the Holy Cross Medical Group, Dr. Munera completed two years of research work serving as a post-doctoral associate with the University of Pittsburgh, and also served as primary care and urgent care physician at the Specialists Clinic in Colombia and at a rural practice with Medellin's Public Service Enterprise (EEPPM).
