Sanomedics buying medical equipment company for $7m

 

Miami-based Sanomedics International Holdings signed a deal to acquire a sleep disorder treatment equipment provider in Texas for $7 million.

 

The company (OTCQB: SIMH) will pay cash for Baytown, Texas-based Duke Medical, which sells medical equipment for patients with sleep apnea. That includes respiratory equipment and masks.

Miami Children's Heart Program First in Nation to Integrate Data System with National Registry Databases

The Heart Program at Miami Children's Hospital - already world renowned for IT leadership in the care of children with congenital heart disease - became the first program in the world to integrate its Electronic Medical Record (EMR) with the three North American registry databases for congenital heart disease. The purpose is to record and enhance care practice for children and adults receiving treatment for congenital heart anomalies.

Max Planck Scientist Awarded $2.4M Research Grant for Memory Study


A scientist at the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience received a $2.4 million federal grant for his research into how memory works.

 

Dr. Ryohei Yasuda, a scientific director at Max Planck's Jupiter facility, will receive the money over five years from the National Institute for Health (NIH). He's using advanced equipment to examine the biochemical reactions that accompany neuronal signaling in the brain.

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital and Memorial Hospital Miramar Voted Best in Broward County in South Florida Parenting Kids Crown Awards


Two Memorial Healthcare System hospitals - Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital and Memorial Hospital Miramar, along with Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital U18 Sports Medicine - were recently voted best in Broward County by South Florida Parenting readers in the 2013 Kids Crown Awards.

 

Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital was voted Best Pediatric Hospital and Best ER Hospital and U18 Sports Medicine was voted Best Physicians/Medical Office in Broward County, while Memorial Hospital Miramar won the award for Best Maternity Hospital in Broward County.
