Mount Sinai profit improves in Q1

 

Mount Sinai Medical Center managed to increase its first quarter profit slightly despite seeing fewer patients. Steven Sonenreich

 

The nonprofit hospital in Miami Beach had net income of $3.4 million on revenue of $125.5 million in the first quarter, according to a report sent to its bondholders. That's compared to net income of $3.3 million on revenue of $128.6 million in the same period a year ago.

 

Mount Sinai is led by CEO Steven D. Sonenreich.

Jupiter Medical Center's Clinical Research Department has opened a new clinical trial for traumatic brain injury patients, under the leadership of Barry Miskin, MD, Chief of Surgery and Medical Director of Wound Care and Hyperbarics.

 Doctors Take their Tablets to Work 


Broward Health, which has 2,000 physicians who practice at its hospitals, recently launched a "bring your own device" program at its Imperial Point hospital. The program invites doctors to bring their laptops or tablets into the hospital to enroll and encrypt them for use at the hospital or wherever they may want to update their patient orders or see records online. 

 

Two-hundred physicians have enrolled so far, and Broward Health will soon launch the program in Coral Springs.
