Men of South Florida: Broward Health Imperial Point hospital is out to "save your bacon" - by hitting the road in a souped-up Man Van. Broward Healht Man Van

 

Outfitted with three high-definition TVs, the Man Van offers 10 insurance-covered health screenings within 30 minutes, all while you kick back and watch your favorite sports or news channel in air-conditioned comfort.

 

No appointment necessary. You can even microwave and eat your lunch while you pass the time. (And feel free to bring your wife. Women are welcome, too.)

 

The idea is to make men feel more at home in looking after their health, something they're not as apt to do, according to Dr. L. Fernando Narvaez, a Broward Health primary-care physician who helped develop the Man Van concept.

 Catalyst Pharmaceutical stock pops on drug study announcement

Shares of Catalyst Pharmaceutical Partners surged 17 percent on Monday (11-18-13) morning after it provided a major update on the development of its drug to treat infantile spasms.

 

The Coral Gables-based company (NASDAQ: CPRX) announced that the medical journal Epilepsia would publish a research paper touting the effectiveness of Catalyst's CPP-115 drug in suppressing infantile spasms. This was based on a pre-clinical study in rats.

 

Catalyst is led by CEO Patrick J. McEnany

Boca Raton Regional Hospital lowers losses, prepares to build women's center

 

The nonprofit hospital lost $1.3 million on revenue of $80.3 million for the quarter ended Sept. 30, according to a report to its bondholders. That compares to a loss of $1.4 million on revenue of $78 million in the same quarter a year ago.
