Do You Know a Healthcare Game Changer?

KidsFirst Urgent Care After-Hours Clinic to Open in Kendall

Long-time South Florida pediatrician, Dr. Alan Swartz has announced the opening of KidsFirst Pediatric Urgent Care After-Hours Walk-in Clinic - a new concept in child healthcare. Inspired by the need for prompt, caring and quality care for kids at night, on weekends and holidays, KidsFirst offers immediate medical attention to children without the hassles, delays and higher costs of most hospital emergency rooms and urgent care centers.

"KidsFirst was inspired by a huge need! It's difficult to get prompt and professional care on nights and weekends at doctor offices, labs, x-ray departments and pharmacies. At KidsFirst we aim to put you and your child at ease by providing for all of your child's medical needs with on-site services at night, on weekends and even during the holidays. As a pediatrician for over 25 years in Kendall I am very excited to be providing this service to the community. Your child's medical urgencies don't conform to normal business hours and neither do we" said Dr. Swartz.

Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants Hosts 17th Annual Pain Symposium

Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants announced that it will host its 17th Annual Pain Symposium at the Coral Springs Marriott Convention Center on Saturday, November 1, from 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The conference is certified to offer CME, CEUs, CDMs, and CCM credits. There is no charge to invited guests.

The symposium provides important information on the diagnosis and treatment of chronic pain conditions. Attendees will include orthopedic surgeons, neurologists, neurosurgeons, rheumatologists, family medicine physicians, physiatrists, psychologists, attorneys, nurses, case managers, adjusters and other interested health care professionals.

"It is important to keep the health care community up to date regarding the latest methods to combat pain," said Ira Fox, MD, DABPM, FIPP, ABIPP, co-founder of Anesthesia Pain Care Consultants.  "It's gratifying to see our attendance grow each year." Dr. Fox said that the goal is to have participants leave each lecture with a better understanding of interventional techniques used in diagnosing and treating pain patients.

The keynote speaker will be Aaron Calodney, MD from Texas Pain.  Dr. Calodney authored the first evidence-based treatment guidelines in interventional pain and evidence-based guidelines for the use of opioids. He is a world-renowned speaker on the topic of pain management, and is a lecturer and examiner for the American Board of Interventional Pain Physicians (ABIPP) and a Fellow of Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP) certifying exams. Additionally, Kristin Comella, current Chief Scientific Officer of BioHeart Inc., will also be speaking.  Comella will present cutting-edge information on the rise of stem cells for the treatment of chronic pain.

The conference is by invitation only, however, for those interested in attending, please contact Curt Black at (954) 720-3188, ext. 662.
