Larkin Community Hospital's next big project is the establishment of @LarkinLabs, which
Dr. Jack Michel, President, says represents its "moonshot" into the future. @LarkinLabs is a transformative vehicle which will allow Larkin to pursue ideas to change the world. It plans to work to conduct multidisciplinary research, including social media, mobile technology and innovative wearables in healthcare. The goal is to enhance ability to understand and improve individual and population health behaviors, and outcomes through direct evidence-based interventions.
At the center of it all will be its proprietary artificial intelligence system,
Hippokrates, which will analyze the data and help discover innovative solutions. "We're really excited about this development," says Dr. Michel. "Our vision is to bring cutting edge insight to the study of all aspects involved in daily life while analyzing the data to improve health. Our healthcare system in the U.S. is the most expensive and most inefficient in the world. We need to improve upon that. Hippokrates will allow us to gather data from patient encounters and determine what treatments result in better outcomes."
