Upcoming Events
March is here, and with it, oddly much warmer weather. Seems like Spring has hit us early this year, and I don't think anyone is really complaining! We've got a few upcoming events in which we think you might be interested.
GameKnight Games hosts pre-release events for the upcoming Magic: the Gathering release, Shadows over Innistrad, on April 2nd and 3rd. This new set for the popular trading card game returns us to the world of Innistrad, a land of horror and monstrosities, werewolves and vampires, where humanity is beset on all sides by creatures of nightmare and darkness.

Preregistration is now open.

You can find full information on our prerelease events here

For those of you already familiar with our prereleases, we have made a few changes:

Prizing. Instead of two packs per person going into the prize pool and distributed based solely on final rankings, we will instead put a single pack per person into that pool, and give each player a bonus booster pack of Shadows Over Innistrad at the end of their event. Our goal behind this change is to flatten out the prize distribution so that everyone is at the very least getting 7 packs (6 in their prerelease kit and 1 prize booster) just for playing. However, there will still be a significant prize payout to the top players, so winning still matters, of course, so try your best, but make sure to have fun!

Entry. For our Saturday main events, entry will be $35.00 if preregistered, or $40.00 at the door. The Sunday event will be $35.00. There are a few ways you can knock a few dollars off those entries, however:
  • For each box of Shadows Over Innistrad boosters you pre-purchase, you'll save $5.00 off your prerelease entry.
  • If you pre-purchase a full case of Shadows Over Innistrad, you'll get your prerelease for free.
  • If you play in more than one main event, you'll save $5.00 off each main event entry beyond the first.
Drop Tournament.  At the end of the second round in a main event, players have the option to drop out of that tournament and enter into a "Drop Tournament" for $30.00. Players receive a whole new prerelease pack, make a whole new deck from those cards (their previous card pool from the main event is not used at all) and compete in a side event with its own set of prizing. This gives players a second chance at winning, whether it be because of a bad card pool, some bad draws, or whatever other reason they might have to drop out of the main event.

What is a Store Championship, you ask?

Store Championships kick off FFG Organized Play at the start of each year in a big way. Hundreds of events are run around the world at participating retailers (like us!) from January 1st through March 31st. Store Championships are local, competitive events and are a great opportunity for players to try out a new store or for newer players to experience playing their favorite game in a competitive setting. Overall, a Store Championship  is a great way to build our community, attract new players, and give our existing players a more competitive event.

Head judged by Mike Haire.
