Garden Education Program Newsletter
May 2018
Greetings from the Gardens!
We'll keep things short and sweet because outside in the garden is where the fun is right now! Consider checking out a Dig in! or Community Farm shift this spring; it's a great way to add some fresh veggies to your week and learn more about growing your own food.
Best wishes,

Lisa Waugh , Learning Gardens Program Coordinator
Devin Dinihanian , Statewide Garden Education Coordinator
Christine Hadekel , Statewide Education and Outreach Manager

We are excited to share that we are getting bee hives at the Eastside Learning Garden! Thanks to the leadership of two volunteers, Renee Alexander and Brian Lacy, Oregon Food Bank and MudBone Grown are hosting honey bees and will provide educational opportunities to learn more about beekeeping and pollinators.

Renee is planning to offer informal opportunities to participate in seasonal activities and hive inspections on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays during Dig In! shifts from 10:00-12:00. Anyone who is interested in taking a closer look will be able to participate! We'll provide bee suits for those getting up close. In June, the hive inspection dates are June 2nd and 16th
