Green Spring Cleaning Tips

 1. Reduce, Reuse, & Recycle
Using old toothbrushes and scraps of worn sheets for reusable scrubbers and wipes.
  2. Use household basics.
Vinegar , baking soda, and Kosher salt are great natural non-toxic cleaners and scrubbers.
  3. Keep yourself in hot water!
Hot water is a perfect non-toxic way to clean and sanitize all types of surfaces.
  4. Embrace essential oils!
Alternative floor cleaner recipe: 20 drops of essential oils (like pine or lemon), 2-3 gallons of warm water, and a half a cup of vegetable oil. What a great alternative to bleach!

Meet The Farmer
During Earth Week there are three opportunities to meet organic farmers!

On Monday the 22nd, Island Spring

Tofu will be coming to talk about

their organic tofu. We are excited to

feature their tofu in our menu on

                               Earth Day

On Wednesday the 24th, the Evergreen

State College Organic Farm will be in

the Greenery to talk about what is

going down on our own campus

farm! What a great opportunity to

learn more about this lovely resource

and possibly ways to get involved on

 sunny spring days.

On Wednesday the 24th, our local blueberry
farmer/provider will be joining us in The
Greenery. Blueberries contain more antioxidants
than most other fruits or vegetables and may help prevent damage caused by cancer, heart disease and Alzheimer's. Come learn more about
the pacific northwest blueberry
business!
Make Your Own Recycled T-Shirt Tote Bag

Did You Know....

Plastic shopping bags are

typically used less than 30 minutes and only 1 % are

recycled. The average American adult uses approximately

288 bags a year, or 22,000* in an average lifetime...

make and use a Recycled

T-Shirt Tote bag Tuesday!

 On Tuesday the 23rd,

come learn how to make

your own Recycled T-Shirt Tote bag! We will have materials to

decorate your new bag. Bring

an old T-Shirt that doesn't quite fit right but you still love.

Together we can make

positive change!

Screening of the Film 'Bag-It'

Is your life too plastic?
'Bag-it' is an amazing and humorous documentary focusing on the issues of plastic bag consumption. How much is too much when it comes to plastic bags?

Currently, there is a campaign in Thurston County to ban plastic bags through
Students for WASHPirg on the
Evergreen Campus.

Come learn more about what plastic is doing to our environment and how you can help either with personal choices (like making a reusable T-Shirt tote bag) or through this exciting campaign.

Screenings of the film will be at 12pm and 6pm on Thursday the 25th.
Handouts will be available about the Ban the Bag campaign in Thurston County.

Learn More About Your Carbon Footprint

During Earth Week in the Greenery
every food item on the
front line will have a
carbon footprint indicator!

On Friday the 26th,
a tabling event will be focused
on exposing the truth of how
to reduce your own personal carbon
footprint on campus.

Come discuss all the green changes you
can make!
Weight the Waste: Collectively Improve Our Consumption

We are tallying up our overall
consumption
for the week prior to Earth Week.

Let's beat it!

Raising awareness for food waste is a great way to collectively move
towards a sustainable future.
Be on the look out in the
Greenery for information
on the weight we are trying to beat.
