January 15, 2017

My previous newsletter went out just days after the watershed elections that have rocked the United States. This one is going out days before the inauguration.

In the time between these two, nothing has happened that is giving me more hope on that level. In my recent blog post, I am focusing on this challenge and what any of us can do. For now, I myself continue to choose to work with individuals and organizations, because I haven't yet figured out what the leverage points are for changing the larger systems. I focus on becoming more strategic in that work, and I don't have any way of knowing if I am contributing to anything beyond those individuals and organizations.
NFP
The CNVC Transition Task Force celebrates. They are named here.
Meanwhile, on other levels, much more hope is visible. One thing that has nurtured hope for me at this recent time is the project I've been involved in for the last almost two years - the New Future Process of CNVC (NFP), designed to completely restructure the way the global NVC network functions.  We are now essentially ready to move to implementation following an extraordinarily successful meeting that took place between some members of the NFP, some members of the current CNVC board, and the CNVC staff. We were able to use the principles and practices of NVC to move through a major challenge, almost a break in trust, and reach the other end entirely together and committed to the radical and visionary nature of what we have created. Stay tuned, because more is likely to come in the coming months.

sabbatical
In order to find the space to begin my sabbatical, I am resigning from the NFP, and saying no to many requests for my participation. I am filled with gratitude for existing and new people who are supporting my ability to do this - with their presence, their paid and unpaid work, and their contributions to the Circle of Support. Together, you are all making it possible for me to start this new phase in my life. I am filled with faith that I will manage to make this what I want it to be: a productive and sustainable future for me. It is almost unbelievable that I may never again find myself in the grind I was in for years. That I may never again work more than my body is able to sustain in order to generate enough resources to sustain me and others at BayNVC. That there will be enough support from those who believe in my vision and what I do to bring it about.

I am incredibly grateful for all of you who are giving such a huge vote of confidence to me, to the Fearless Heart, and to BayNVC as a whole. A year ago this time, I was deep in crisis on multiple levels. Today, I am signing this letter with faith, wonder, and deep awe.

This year, may all the people who have already lost access to health care and whose lives may be on the line in a Donald Trump presidency find enough support and protection to thrive. May there be enough miracles that we finally manage to create a cross-class, cross-race visionary movement that unites enough of us to be able to truly turn the tide towards life.

in peace and hope,
Miki
