Her first day was August 29, the first day after Hurricane Irene hit the Northeast. Debby brings years of sales and customer service experience to Gen-Tran and was quickly put to the test as our business "surged" with demand from the storm.

Update on Shipments and Product Availability
As you know, we saw unprecedented orders after the recent Hurricane Irene blew up the East Coast, and this wiped out the inventory that we had on hand. We received almost 3000 orders over a 4-week period, which is about 25X our normal order rate. It is nearly impossible for an entire supply chain to respond overnight to this unforecasted demand, so we have been working closely with our suppliers to expedite parts to ship orders as quickly as possible.
While about 4 to 5 million people lost power due to Irene, the death toll and damage estimates were relatively low considering this storm affected such a populated region. These consumers have a new appreciation for electricity! This event has raised the awareness about the importance of having backup power and preparing homes and businesses for future power outages.
However, everyone affected by Irene seems to have ordered transfer switches all at the same time, wiping out inventory on generators, transfer switches and accessories to complete their installation.
So here's a Status Update on Specific Gen/Tran Items:
- TRANSFER SWITCHES: All 20,30 and 50 amp Manual Transfer switches will be shipped 12-15 business days from order date. Demand is still high, so please plan accordingly for new purchase orders.
- FLIP LIDS AND PIBS: The storm wiped out our inventory of Flip Lids for a few weeks, and we expect to receive a shipment on November 15th. So ALL orders for products containing Flip Lids (either individually or on Power Inlet Boxes - Vintage PIBs and non-metallic models ending in -4), will be filled after November 15.
- PIBS and CORDS: Power inlet boxes (without flip lids) and standard power cords are available for shipment within 3 business days.
- EVERYTHING ELSE: ATS units, Power centers, generator-ready load centers, contractor cords, GenShed shelters will ship in about a week.
